Zac Efron is an actor, singer and dancer who exploded onto the scene after High School Musical received a massive and very loyal following. Zac has only been acting professionally since the early 2000s and has since moved on to big screen roles including Hairspray, 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud. In 2007, Zac was declared the “poster boy for tweenyboppers” by Rolling Stone.

Zac was born in San Luis Obispo, California but moved to Arroyo Grande shortly thereafter. His father, David, is an engineer and mother, Starla, a former secretary who has worked at the same place of employment for many years. Zac has a younger brother, Dylan, and has been quoted as saying his childhood was a very “normal” middle class experience.

Although self-described as a class clown while in school, Zac also admitted that anything short of an “A” in the classroom was unacceptable. Consequently, the young star in the making was very successful in school, acquiring a GPA of 4.3 in high school. Zac’s father was instrumental in getting his son into acting, encouraging him to chase his dreams as early as age 11. While in high school, Efron appeared in theater productions and enrolled in singing lessons.

Zac received his first big break when a high school drama teacher recommended him to an agent in Los Angeles. His career quickly took off thereafter.

Interests: Zac is a baseball junkie who is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and cites his autographed collection of baseball memorabilia as his most prized possession. Zac is a fledging philanthropist, having donated many of his items to Rocky Stone and the Toy Mountain Campaign among other organizations. He is also a fan of comic books, Flight of the Conchords, The Gorillaz, John Mayer. Zac’s acting idol is Johnny Depp.
