Vanessa Hudgens is an actress and singer who has enjoyed success in both careers. She is best known for her portrayal of the fictional character Gabriella Montez from the High School Musical series; although she has earned critical acclaim for other roles, such as Bandslam. Her debut album, V, is a certified Gold record.

Vanessa was born in Salinas, California, but spent her childhood at several different locations up and down the West Coast. Her parents, Gregory and Gina were working class people and raised their daughter Roman Catholic. She has a younger sister named Stella who is also an actress. ‘Nessa is of mixed cultural background (Irish, Native American and Chinese-Filipino-Spanish). She comes from a musically rich family.

Hudgens began acting at the age of eight, performing at local musical theater and singing gigs. After gaining comfort in that arena, Vanessa transitioned to commercials and television shows. Her family moved to L.A. after her first successful audition, and by the age of 15 she was practically acting full-time.

Vanessa landed her first major role when a friend could not attend and suggested Vanessa go in her place. In 2011, she stars in the films Beastly and Sucker Punch.

Interests: Vanessa is a talented dancer and singer along with her first niche, acting. ‘Nessa is also what some would describe as a fashion icon, always keeping her wardrobe fresh and interesting. Her favorite jeans are reportedly Frankie B. She is a fan of horror movies. Hudgens cites rock as her favorite genre of music and also loves theater.
