Insecure teens kill themselves or hurt others according to what’s posted on Facebook? So we’re obligated to cater to their needs whenever we’re on Facebook? Anyway, yeah, punish them, but Cheriseaide is right, it shouldn’t be handled by the state.

The impersonation isn’t the part being taken seriously. It’s the fact that they made terroristic threats about other students, in a public forum. Also, they slandered, and defamed them. Which, can cause severe emotional trauma. These girls could have very well ruined several people’s lives. They deserve the felony. If for nothing, but the threats. Threats are VERY serious, and should NEVER be taken lightly.

I agree with Lilmusicalkid. This is unacceptable. If we could just take a minute to stop and think what others lives are like before doing things to other people like these girls did, think what would happen to the world. Ok, theres my two cents.

No, this is civil crime, its defamation and fraud. If anything is to happen, it should come from the girl’s legal representation, not the state.

Clearly you have never been a victim of bullying, not of this sort at least. Bullying is a disgusting thing for disgusting excuses for people. I’ve seen people after years of bullying, what it has done to them. I also know from experience.

And just to make a very practical example, comedy skits like Jay Leno make fake accounts all the time to make fun of people.

This isn’t any different than girls spreading rumors about each other if you’re saying the “victim” doesn’t know.

If the “victim” does know and people ask him/her about it, he/she could just say, “that’s not my page. I don’t have a Facebook.”

Or they could just make an account quickly to secure their identity and then just not update it.

Uh yes. This same thing happened to me when I was 15.
An old friend from another school was making death threats and **** from a fake email under my name. The only reason I found out about it at all was because my cousin went to her school and was friends with the people she was making death threats to.

That **** could have ruined my life. Lock them up in juvy until they’re 18.
