Should minor marijuana possession be a ticketable offense?
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel would like to make the possession of fifteen grams or less of marijuana punishable by a fine of up to five hundred dollars. By making the minor possession a ticketable offense “allows us to observe the law, while reducing the processing time for minor possession of marijuana – ultimately freeing up police officers for the street.”
Of course, there are many opposed to the mayor’s proposal. One city councilman says, “Is this a slippery slope that we begin sliding down? As a parent, I’m very concerned about anything that gives kids the idea that this is not a bad thing to do. [These are] things people have to consider before they sign on to support a further decriminalization.”
What do you think of minor marijuana possession being punishable by a ticket and a fine?

I’m anything but a conservative when it comes to political views, but people’s glorification of marijuana has got to end soon. It’s a drug, considered the biggest gateway/stepping stone drug, it can make you high, it can damage your lungs and introduce young adults into the wrong crowd (dealers and heavy users of other drugs). Yes, it’s a medical miracle, but that’s not what people are using it for or glorifying it for. They just want to get high. Though I have nothing personally against it, considering the risks, it’s just not worth it. If you do not have a medical license to have possession of it, you should be charged properly. As unfair and uncool as it sounds.
