Robert Pattinson turns down Simon Cowell record deal
You may know Robert Pattinson as the “really white guy” from the Twilight Saga but what you may not know is that Pattinson is also an accomplished musician. It’s true, despite dabbling in modeling and acting due to his good looks, Rob’s first love is music.
Now with all the money in the world, Pattinson is looking to get some music out and is apparently very particular about whom he’ll work with. Case in point: Pattinson reportedly turned down a record deal from Simon Cowell.
Woah!
It’s not exactly like Cowell is God or something, but when it comes to famous music executives with a lot of pull you would have to place the British 51 year-old fairly high up on the list. So did Rob make a big mistake? The actor defended his decision to The Sun,
“He is a clever guy, and he’s created artists that he knows the public will like, that’s why I don’t think he could ever launch my music career.”
“I am selfish with my music. I get my guitar and I play what I like, but the problem is I don’t think many other people would like it. I see myself playing in a rundown blues bar, with about three people drowning their sorrows. I play according to my mood, and sometimes that can come across as very depressing in music.”
According to IMDb, Pattinson has been taking piano lessons since age three and classical guitar since age five. While there is no evidence that he’ll pull a Joaquin Phoenix, some call the rejection a vital mistake. RPatz added,
“I am sure I’ll be one of those artists that people don’t pay any attention to while I’m alive, and when I am dead people will go, ‘Yeah man, that was a work of art.’”
