Miranda Cosgrove is a film and television actress as well as pop recording artist. Although best known for her portrayal of the title character in iCarly, Cosgrove rose to prominence as “Summer” in School of Rock and “Megan” from Drake & Josh. She began her solo career in 2010, releasing the debut album Sparks Fly.

Cosgrove was born in Los Angeles, California to her father, a businessman and a stay-at-home mother. At the age of three she was discovered by a talent agent while singing and dancing at a Los Angeles restaurant. Upon being signed, Miranda quickly landed commercial gigs for such large franchises as Mello Yello and McDonald’s.

She made her film debut in the 2003 surprise hit, School of Rock. Cosgrove played Summer Hathaway, a young girl with great ambition and discipline who at first, is put off by the free-spirited new teacher (Jack Black). While filming School of Rock, the young actress was informed about a new pilot that would later become Drake & Josh.

Miranda cites her role models as Anne Hathaway and Rachel McAdams. She’s been homeschooled ever since elementary school. Her favorite color is purple. Celebrity crushes include Shia LaBeouf, Orlando Bloom and Robert Pattinson. She is influenced by female singers such as Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams.
