Mexican Drug Cartel Leader credits fortune to U.S. War on Drugs

The debate over whether or not to legalize marijuana inside the United States is clearly a controversial subject, however outside the U.S., Mexico to be exact, the continual prohibition of pot is favorable not harmful for particular individuals.
Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Forbes 701st Wealthiest Man Alive, is actually grateful for the States war on drugs, namely marijuana. Why? The Mexican Drug Cartel Leader is crediting his $1 billion empire to former and current U.S. Presidents.
He explained, “I couldn’t have gotten so stinking rich without George Bush, George Bush Jr., Ronald Reagan, even El Presidente Obama, none of them have the cajones to stand up to all the big money that wants to keep this stuff illegal. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say, Gracias amigos, I owe my whole empire to you.”
What is your stance on the U.S. War on Drugs? What do you think about the overwhelming drug cartel violence in Mexico?

Firstly this guy was not the first person to say this. The Independent (a UK newspaper) ran an article on this same issue just over a year ago. and the same point was made by a leader of a Miami drug cartel when he said in the 1980′s “prohibition is good for business” I point this out because it shows just how the message is not getting through to politicians. Taking a tough stance on drugs (treating it as a criminal matter rather than a medical) is such easy political points and the population so uneducated(most people think weed is chemically addictive)that the political leverage is too hard to resist. Oh and Fox News is the most watched station in America: a network which regularly outright lies to its viewers on drugs.
@Martymar93 apart from you absolutely horrifically shameful grammar and spelling, as soon as I read “mexico is one of the poorest country in the world” , I stopped taking you seriously. It is ranked 57th out of about 200 nations in the world. Sure, it has its problems (large income range etc etc), but it is nowhere near as desperately poor as you make out.
@Ehhfaafaa Thank you for offering an absolutely ******* stupid argument. You are trying to say something should be legal because it is less harmful then something else ? In your typical persons mind that’s like offering them two different poisons to swallow: they’re not going to care which is less harmful, a poison is poison to them
A better idea would be to point out weed should never been made illegal: http://www.drugwarrant.com/articles/why-is-marijuana-illegal/. It is shocking and surprising reading.
