EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Duncan–Listen to his new single “Light Up the Sky!”
Duncan is the next big thing to hit pop music, tasting success with his new single even before his album’s release. “Light Up the Sky” is featured on the soundtrack for the hit movie New Year’s Eve and was the anthem of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Finals last month. What is something your fans would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a really good artist. Drawing and painting are some of my first passions. I can also recite all 50 states backwards.. ok, maybe not about the 50 states.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Michael Jackson, Elvis, The Beatles, Usher, Eminem, 2 Pac, Lupe Fiasco, The Dream.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Right now it would have to be Adele, she’s pretty much amazing I love her voice, her sound is incredible..
How did you feel when you learned that “Light Up the Sky” was going to be featured on the New Year’s Eve soundtrack?
It was super surreal, ha! I was surprised that we even made the deadline we literally had like 2 days before all songs and material needed to be turned in for the movie and when they said they liked the song and it made it, I kinda didn’t believe it, it was crazy.
How do you like to spend your down time?
Right now I don’t have too much downtime but I definitely like to draw, write and get down on some Call of Duty maybe a little Max Payne 3.. PS3 all day!
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I would like to act, or write scripts, or screen plays make scary movies, and definitely something with comedy..
What inspires you?
Anything can.. Art, Fashion, Music, a person, an experience, a movie. Even other people’s creative process and inspiration can inspire me.. I recently went to see the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the art museum and just watching and seeing how he created was amazing, it made me wanna go out and do something huge, make a difference, be remembered…. and also design clothes ha!

he was ok,but i don’t think he the next big thing for pop music. The next big thing for pop music as got to be cris cab. Cris cab is a better singer than duncan.
