Several schools across the country are implementing a Homework Bill of Rights that prohibits teachers from grading homework or assigning homework over weekends or holidays. Other schools won’t allow homework to count more than a small percentage of a student’s final grade. One Maryland school has abolished homework altogether in favor of nightly reading. One principal asks, “Who are we as educators to dictate how families spend their private time?”

What do you think? Is homework necessary or just a waste of time?

There should be homework, but it should be coordinated between teachers so you dont get slammed all at once, and NO HOMEWORK ON HOLIDAYS

I dont think its unnecessary. But it shouldnt be sooo much to do, just a couple problems to do so youll know what you understand and dont understand. It shouldnt count so much of your grade either. But homework helps some people, so maybe it should be optional.

Homework is unnecessary. It doesn’t help you in anyway, seriously, you sit in a classwork for 1-2 hours, with an old lady lecturing you about the friggin ABC’s.

I think that for some students it helps them learn and to study for exams. I’m in grade 9 this year and I don’t mind doing homework. It’s pretty easy for me until I leave until last minute.

Homework sucks, and i think we shouldnt have homework
its pointless as hell, and it doesent help us any better.

I think its ******* unnecessary. At my school it counts as 25% of your grade and if you don’t do it, It can bring you down one letter grade.

I go to school for 14 hours a day. You’re ******* insane if you think I’m doing homework.
