Last week, in honor of Hillary Clinton stepping down as the Secretary of State, Newsweek made her the cover story, dubbing her “The most powerful woman in American History.”

She’s definitely been influential, and involved in the scene for an extended period of time, but (politics aside) do you think she’s the most powerful woman in American history? Who else might compete for that honor?

I haven’t made up my mind on this one yet, so I’d be interested to hear what you have to say. Please be respectful in your comments, even if you disagree.

If you go by actual power, then it would be Nancy Pelosi who was the only women to be Speaker of the House which is 2nd in line to the President behind the Vice President, I’d say that Hillary is the most influential woman in American Politics, but technically not the most powerful

between her health, benghazi, & her wanting any shot at running for 2016, i’d have stepped down too. i agree with @flipstips. definitely not the most powerful woman in HISTORY, but very powerful nonetheless.
