Florida men attacked by Killer Bees
Two Florida men were hospitalized after being attacked by Africanized “killer” bees while on the job. The two men were using a front end loader to move debris near the Tampa park where they work, when they overturned an old truck tire and about 100,000 bees swarmed out.
They fled the scene, but each suffered about 100 stings before escaping the bee swarm. They were hospitalized, but expected to recover. This particularly aggressive strain of bees is still relatively rare in the States, but these instances are becoming more and more common, causing concern. Many people who are attacked by killer bees die from their injuries. Personally, being attacked by just one bee is a fear of mine, never mind a swarm of killer bees — eek!
