Artist or image?
If you think about it, a lot of the musicians that overrun our radio stations, awards show, and tabloids are less known for their songs. They are more known for their crazy image. Whether it’s Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, or Madonna, there is more flash than actual music. The music manager of a worldwide website says, “They want to be famous, not make music. The music is just one facet of the celebrity.”
Do music and image go hand in hand or should they be totally separate? Who is your favorite musician that doesn’t have an over-the-top persona?

Image quite obviously…

I honestly cannot stand to listen to any artist in the Pop Culture Music scene (mainstream in other terms). They dress like they’re on acid, or for some stupid little trend, and most of the music they make has no actual meaning. Oh, and tabloids and greedy fans have the power to ruin a musician like that.
But to answer the question, Austin Carlile or Shayley Bourget would be my favorite musician without an “over-the-top” persona.

First of all…there are billions of people in this world that have great voices, but the difference between those people and people like Lady GaGa is that they are UNIQUE. If you look like everyone else no one is going to pay attention to you. Look at Katy Perry for example, she started off as Kate Hudson (her real last name) and dressed like a ragedy old teenager…she bombed. She was not successful at all. Later she changed her name and started to dress more funky and she had controversial songs like “I Kissed A Girl”. If you sound and look like everyone else then it’s almost impossible to make it big.
Secondly,Lady GaGa intentionally dresses and acts the way she does because it reflects the inner chaos and meaning of her music. Yes, she is dramatic. Yes, she is weird at times. She is a lot of things, but those freaky things that she does and says makes YOU the audience remember her. She makes you feel something, whether that’s a good feeling or a bad feeling is up to you. At the end of the day you will always remember her. You cannot be successful in the music industry, as well as many others, without an image that makes you stand out.

Nononono. Bands like Kiss, Slipknot & Mushroomhead are NOT in the same line as lady Gaga. A lot of musicians wear costumes on stage, and that’s it. They don’t wear crazy outfits out in public. Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry do it for attention. It’s all for publicity. Publicity = money. Granted, I think Lady Gaga is great for her work with Gay teens, bullying, suicide, etc. But that’s it.

Whoever wrote this article is f*cking retarded. Gaga has had 8(?) number one hits none of which are the crap created by these other artists you hear nnowadays, and her lyrics aren’t meaningless mumbo jumbo. And she is no more image than the bands from the 80s(like kiss.)

Image is not the same as musical talent. Bottom line.

Get over it. Musicians are musicians for a reason. I, myself enjoy all of last gaga’s songs. She is creative and unique, she does her own thing, and leave her at that, so what if she wants to be famous? So many others want the same, she made it. Look at her now!

Lady Gaga is too desperate to be famous. If she didn’t dress the way she does, she wouldn’t be as popular. That’s true for Nicki Minaj too. True musician write their own music & use musical instruments to perform it. Not this auto tune bullshit. True music is about the flaws & imperfections. You know it’s made by humas and that’s why it’s great.
And I’m sick if that stupid ******* Cher Lloyd song that comes on the radio ALL THE TIME.

Gaga is not one of these artists that just want the fame, she has a passion for her music.
