![]() Born Lee Potter, in a sleepy little nothing town in the heart of rural England, Kela voiced his talents, literally, from a young age. From the age of six he was to be found beat boxing along to the theme tunes of his favourite television programs, and gradually his new found favourite thing to do led him to be come immersed in the hip hop culture that began to infiltrate the UK from America. Later in his life, thanks to hooking up with DJ Vadim, Kela became a member of the respectived hip-hop collective Scratch Perverts and The Rocksteady Crew. During years of almost non stop touring worldwide, Kela's path crossed with that of mega stars Pharrel Williams and Justin Timberlake. Both indeed being won over with Pharrel declaring Kela 'the best beatboxer in the world'. Coming from Pharrel, that, is one heck of a compliment. ![]() "Secrets" Kela's debut single showcases the wide ranging abilities of this undoubtedly talented young man. All the beats and percussion underpinning the track are products of Kela's marvellous mouth, complimenting perfectly the sweetly sung, high pitched vocals. Violin strings add a lush of dimension and are an indication of the widescreen musical landscape of 'Elocution' the album penned by Kela. Remixes on this single are by Grime don Wiley, E3, Adam Freeland and Tokyo. Over all, this song is a great track, and becomes an even greater record when you discover the fact that all the percussion and lyrics come from within the same person. No instruments, just Kela. Think The Streets meets Justin Timberlake, and you are half way there. I personally can't wait for this album to drop; it's going to be one immense ride. One of the freshest, most original and exciting singles I've heard all year, and well worth checking out. Video: Watch Killa Kela's video for 'Secrets' here
