![]() Surprizingly enough, the rest of the album sounds nothing like the bubble-gummy, uber-catchy first single. The Block is packed with club tunes and slow-jams that you can definitely hear Timbaland's influence on. Not to worry, though, they haven't completely dropped the 80's cheese from their sound. Bad synth, keyboards, and electronic vocal alteration can be heard throughout most songs, if you listen for it. These are songs old and new fans alike won't be able to not dance to, and laugh at, and reminisce about how totally hot they were way back when (okay, so new fans can't do that...). The best part of this album, if you ask me? The lyrics. They're racy and perverted (and hilarious!) from start to finish. With song titles like Big Girl Now, Grown Man, Sexify My Love and Lights, Camera, Action...you can only begin to imagine how funny these lyrics are. The Block is fun, funny, and totally 'dance-able'. I love this CD. Although it definitely needs a little more of Jordan's signature, ludicrous high-pitched voice. This CD proves these guys are still capable, after all these years, of producing fantastic, mindless, powerpop fun...even if it is a little more...uh..."grown up". Oldschool fans beware: if you're hoping for more of their old pre-pubescent cheese (which is wonderful cheese!) - buy their greatest hits album that dropped August 12th, 2008, and leave this one alone. But if you're down for some post-pubescent, more modern cheese - you'll dig on this album. The Block world tour kicked off in Toronto on September 18th (I was there!!!), and hits all over Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and all over Europe. The original tourdates are completely sold out, and extra dates are being added on an ongoing bases. The Block is back, baby!
