With her organic charm and poetic afterthoughts, New York songbird Jaymay will readily make her way from your stereo to your heart. Her debut album, Autumn Fallin' relates genuine expressions of fondness and farewells behind the bright lights of her hometown. Whether it's sharing a tearful goodbye at Grand Central Station or watching the lonely leaves fall in Central Park, you will find yourself there, hoping for the best.

TeenSpot.com's Andrew Bot recently got the chance to ask Jaymay a few questions:

TeenSpot: First off we would like to say thanks for taking time out of your day to answer some questions for us!

Jaymay: thank U.

TeenSpot: A little about yourself. What's your name? Where are you from? Fav. food?

Jaymay: my name is jamie kristine seerman n i was born in connecticut n i grew up on long island.

Jaymay: my fav foods: cheese n olives, avocado, eggplant parmesan, greek salad, roast beef hero w the works-- tho id forsake most things for strong coffee.

TeenSpot: So "Jaymay" isn't your real name, where did "Jaymay" come from?

Jaymay: Jaymay comes from a basement in cedarhurst.

TeenSpot: Alright! I'm very very interested in hearing about this album of yours titled, "Autumn Fallin'." What/who is it about? What made you write a record like this?

Jaymay: when i graduated college i moved to nyc. i slept in my sister's kitchen on the upper east side. i went to the central park zoo n the met all the time. i started goin to open mics n meetin all new people n musicians n i met this one guy n i was crazy bout him but it fell apart in grand central station. im crazy bout the seasons so i started to write about them n all my experiences within.

Jaymay: Autumn Fallin' is a story bout my first seven months in new york.

TeenSpot: Ok, so with it being a whole album about breaking up you've got people wondering, "Can she write anything else?" What do you say to people who are curious about your writing abilities?

Jaymay: Autumn Fallin' is not a breakup album. when people say that, theyre only focusin on the obvious or else they havent really listened to the record.

Jaymay: sycamore down is for my friend who kept sayin she felt like a cloud.

Jaymay: youd rather run is bout not trustin particular people anymore, but it's got no lovers.

Jaymay: hard to say is precisely a poem bout the four seasons.

Jaymay: big ben is for a dear friend i never met in london.

Jaymay: ill willed person is bout an email i cant reconcile.

Jaymay: what i think matters most is good songs n i plan on writin them for my next record. im not too worried bout subject matter. if i feel like writin love songs then ill write some love songs. if i feel like writin bout philippe petit then ill write about him.

Jaymay: i think most of the time it's hard to pinpoint what a songs truly about.

TeenSpot: Where did you write and record the album?

Jaymay: i wrote it in nyc. i recorded in brooklyn, manhattan, long island, vermont, los angeles and london.

TeenSpot: What would you say was the hardest part about making this album?

Jaymay: the experiences that inspired it.

TeenSpot: Why is it that you decided to put out your albums independently?

Jaymay: i only released an EP called Sea Green, See Blue independently. i put it out cause i wasnt signed yet.

TeenSpot: Technology is obviously a huge part of our lives, yours especially. Where do you think technology will be in another 20 years?

Jaymay: i cant imagine where it wont be.

TeenSpot: Who are some of the biggest influences on you musically?

Jaymay: everybody i sing about . . . weather . . . vivaldi . . .

TeenSpot: Aside from the people you've just mentioned, what else would we find on your iPod?

Jaymay: ya kno . . . yr typical breakup albums . . .
