![]() Brown Brigade comes flying out the starting gates with an intense album of face-melting guitar solos, thought-provoking lyrics, and self proclaimed “heavy metal with a side of bell bottoms and ‘fros”. The polar opposite of the latest release from a certain band member’s former band. This album is fast, heavy, hard, from front to back. Packed with guitar solos around every corner from not one but two amazing guitarists and yes, they even have a bass solo. A freaking bass solo. If you love real, hard rock and roll, you’ll find it here in it’s most genuine form. Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness is not another manufactured, plastic, computer generated, textbook album of modern “rock”. This album has a gritty and real feel to it, because it is gritty and real. What you hear is what you get; this is the guys playing the music, for real. Legitimate raw talent, not the airbrushed, play-pretend talent that is in drastic overabundance in today’s music world. If only they could convey to you, through the album, the energetic, passionate, talented, and balls-out live performance you’re in for if you are lucky enough to catch these guys live... Starting big and in-your-face with E 2 the F (Homeboy), Brown Brigade commands your attention for all 12 of the songs that follow. Although there are songs on the album that are better than others, even the “less good” songs are still good - it’s just that there are others that are epic. The strongest songs on the album being Purebread, Blame the Wizards, Aggravation Plantation, WD 80, Last Writes and of course their Iron Maiden cover, Hallowed Be Thy Name. Yes, I am aware I just listed 6 out of 13 tracks from the album - that should tell you something about the caliber of this album. ![]() There are only two flaws I can see in this album. The first being that in a few songs there are points where the vocal melodies are a little off with the music. Sounding a little forced or rushed at times - which is merely a byproduct of having so much to say and having more experience musically writing than lyrically writing. The second being that their live performance is substantially stronger than the album itself. Given this is still only their first full length album, and how ridiculous and mind-blowing the music already is - these are both flaws that I’ve no doubt whatsoever will be ironed out with experience playing and recording together. This isn’t an album for the faint-hearted, but if you’re into the hard rockin’ tunes and think you can get down with brown - this is a must have album for your collection. Available for purchase at www.dkdtunes.com for Canada, the USA and Europe. Album is also available in Japan, as well as at your local record stores in Canada. These guys love the music they are playing - and you can hear it, nay, you can feel it. Brown Brigade’s Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness is badd(d)ass.
