![]() TS = TeenSpot (Gary); EN = The Early November (Jeff) TS: Hi there, could you introduce yourself and tell us what you do... EN: Hi there, my names Jeff and I play guitar for a band called The Early November. TS: So, how is the tour going? EN: Y'know what this tour has been real crazy. It's awesome. The kids over here have been mad and it's all good shit! We've really enjoyed the last few shows, especially the Glasgow one. It was awesome. TS: Has there been a dramatic change compared to the UK and the USA legs of the tour? EN: Funnily enough not really, I think it's different because its a different country but other than that it's all gone smooth and we've really enjoyed all of the shows so I guess theres nothing new. TS: What do you think has been the highlight of it all so far? (Including USA legs) EN: To be honest, basically all of it. Coming to Europe is such a privelege and to find we've got so many awesome fans half way across the globe is always going to be a good thing. TS: What are your plans post tour? EN: Well we've got a headline show at the London Garage on the 26th of January. After that we're off home for a months rest. We've been touring for so long that we all need to settle for awhile. Plus Ace has his solo project coming along so that's all very exciting. TS: Could you tell us a little about your relationship with Drive-Thru? EN: Drive Thru Records is the only label I've ever been on so as far as I'm concerned they are different from them all because they really listen to their fans. I don't like to use the whole family analogy but basically thats what it all is. TS: What do you think about the new Drive-Thru-Records signings? (Jenoah and Hellogoodbye) EN: I don't really have an opinion on it all. I've not heard them yet but if Richard and Stefanie (Drive Thru owners) like them then I guess they've gotta be pretty cool. TS: If you could sign any band to Drive-thru as your labelmates, who would you sign? EN: Ah that's a tough one. Well, there's a band from back home called The Progress. They are one of my favourite bands right now so yeah, I'd bring them along for the ride. TS: If you were asked to write a song about your label, how would it go? EN: Damn these questions get harder. That's a tough one and I don't really have an answer. Maybe !@$#! TS: How and where do you see yourself and the band in say, 5 years time? EN: Well I mean we're doing well now so I'd like to see us doing even better in the future, it's great being able to do what you love for a living and the thought of doing anything else is just weird, so I guess I just want to be doing good shit for the band, having fun and generally having a good time. TS: What are your favourite and least favourite tracks to play live? EN: Well we've not got tonnes of songs so this questions kinda hard to answer. Truthfully I enjoy playing all of the songs we've written. No doubt after years of touring I could see how some shit could get boring but right now it's all good. TS: Could you try and define your music style for us? EN: I don't think we really have a category to fit in. We've got elements of many different styles all intertwined to make us what we are. Definately not emo... this 'emo' stuff is annoying. All music is emo. I wouldn't say we're punk either, I see bands like The Sex Pistols and punk... we're no comparison. TS: Do you have a favourite website? EN: I think it would have to be absolutepunk.net, they've always got good shit on it which bands want to read... and yeah, ok, some of it may be gossip but its interesting to read. TS: How do you feel about internet filesharing? EN: Actually I support it based on the concept that if you like a band you'll support them the best way possible and go to their shows. Record sales only really affect the big companies... bands only make money on a cd if it sells like 1m so we don't mind. Mp3.Com shutting down was kinda a blow to us though because we had a number one and three top five entries in the mp3.com chart... and yeah ok it wasn't illegal file sharing but none the less I see the two as being closely related.
