So you were bummed when Blink 182 broke up, eh? Were you also bummed when Tom Delonge’s Angels and Airwaves came out with it’s boring, predictable, emo-esq debut album?

Well turn that bum upside down! …or…something like that. +44 is here for former Blink fans enjoyment! And they even have the number band thing rockin’ again!

This album is such a throwback to Blink 182’s pre-self-titled, eyeliner album, that I actually bothered to look into it. How can anyone sit through the album’s first single, “When Your Heart Stops Beating”, without dancing!? Or at LEAST bobbing your head, or smiling? The song is magnificent pop. It’s everything Blink 182 was originally meant to be: it’s catchy, it’s fast, it’s simple, it’s guaranteed to get the crowd pumped at live shows, and most importantly, it’s FUN! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker are fun again!

This album is fun, upbeat, happy rock music in a time of whiners and eyeliner. I, for one, am thrilled to see a little fun back in rock and roll. Start to finish, “When Your Heart Stops Beating” makes you sing, it makes you dance, it makes you yell, and it makes you remember why you ever liked Blink 182 in the first place. There’s still a bit of a heavier and more sincere feel here and there, in songs like “Baby Come On”, and “Little Death”, but it’s more of a Mark-Hoppus-heavy, than a Tom-Delonge-heavy. I know at least some of you know what I mean.

The best part about this album? You can feel that Mark and Travis are into it again; which was a feeling blatantly forgotten on Blink 182’s final album.

If you were a fan of Blink 182, check this album out. If you’re a fan of fun pop tunes to sing along to, check this album out. Just check it out. Specifically, “Baby Come On”, “When Your Heart Stops Beating”, “Lycanthrope”, and my very favourite song of the moment, “Make You Smike”.

Yeah, I found the album to be very mediocre at first. I saw 'em live a few months after it came out, and that... [more]
