Dave "Brownsound" Baksh announced his seperation from Sum 41 in May of this year for personal reasons. With this departure; Sum 41 fans didn't even know what hit them; and neither did the world of rock and roll.

Enter, Brown Brigade.

What started out as a side project of Dave and cousin, Vaughn Lal, was brought to life with the addition of Craig Pattison, and Johnny Owens. They tourer for the month of October with Pennywise and the Circle Jerks throughout Canada, where they sold this 3 song EP, Appetizer for Destruction. Since purchasing it at their show in Guelph, Ontario, Canada - I've yet to stop listening to it. This album is great. Exactly what the rock world needs.

The first song, E2DMFNF, is MCed by Cess Rock, and is more of a rap-esq hardrock tune. It's still fast, inyourface rock, but with a husky kind of rap over it. There's a great music break about 1 minute into the song.

The second song, Blues Warrior, has a really unique sound in the world or rock today. Meshing a bluesy sound with a bit of a reggae feel, and then some random hard rock? Yes, please. This is a very cool song unlike anything any current rock bands have tried.

Save the best for last, Last Writes. This song is FANSTASTIC. Starts out with that heavy, Iron Man feel leading into DAVE ON VOCALS. Anyone who's heard Sum 41's alter-ego band, Pain For Pleasure, knows Dave can belt it out with the best of them. This song is fast, hard, and catchy - a track that you can't help but scream along with the punchy, political minded lyrics. They go political without going obnoxious. It's not grate-your-nerves lyrics comperable to an unnamed band of American idiots or anything, just lyrics with real meaning. Oh and did I mention that at about 2 minutes in, you're reminded that Dave Baksh is in the band, just in case you'd forgotten? Yeah. Prepare your face for meltage at two minutes into this track.

It's not a full album, but it is an album, and it is defintely just a mere taste of the upcoming rock and roll revolution. Watch out for Brown Brigade, they're coming, and they're coming hard.
