I left fairly early for the 5 hour drive to the Northgate Theater in North Seattle.I arrived at the theater at about 5 o'clock for an interview with Yellowcard at 5:30 before the show. Once on the bus, the guys we're really cool and laid back, this was my first actual interview with a big name, but the laid-back atmosphere made it pretty easy.

Just as we were starting the interview a fan drove by and mooned us, we all got a laugh out of that. I interviewed Ben, a guitarist for Yellowcard. (Interview can be found on the previous page.) Once we concluded the interview, Ben offered to pop-in their new album for me to have a peek at.

Wow. That's all I can say after listening to their new cd. Which is out July 22nd, by the way. The sound was an evolvled Yellowcard. The first two tracks on the CD, Way Away and Breathe, we're totally awesome and got you fired up, wanting to hear more. I still can't get the catchy Way Away lyrics out of my head. Another song that I found myself really liking was Beleive, it had some great violin and guitar sound. After listening to the CD the whole way through my verdict was... WOW. This CD is gonna make it big this summer. You know usually the first time you listen to a CD, its just ok, this was totally not the case. I was loving just about every track after only one listen.

After thanking the guys for the interview and chance to listen to their new album, I got back in line to get in and waited for the show to start.

Yellowcard was direct support for Lagwagon for this show, so I had to wait through the two opening bands. The first opener was "The Enemies" who wern't too bad, next was "Hagfish" which had some interesting tuxedos they wore. Neither of the two openers got much of the crowd going. However, this was all about to change, as the same with every Yellowcard show I've gone to. Even with Ryan out with a broken jaw, the crowd was going wild when Yellowcard started their first song. Peter from Over-It did a great job filling in for Ryan, might I add.

I, along with everyone else was so into the music and singing along that unforunetly I can't remember the set list. They played songs mostly off their cd, "One for the Kids" and I think one or two from "The Underdog EP" as well as 'Way Away' from their CD due out in July, "Ocean Avenue."

Yellowcard is really a bunch of great, fun guys that put on a terrific show. They will be touring non-stop for the rest of the year pretty much, with headlining tours starting a few days after today. See them, their live performances are the best of any I have seen to this day. The energy they put off, especially Sean, is unreal.
