Coming straight from Queens, Jamaica, Yummy Bingham is music royalty. Being the godchild of R&B Legend Chaka Khan and the daughter of noted music producer Osborne Bingham Jr (who has worked with Kylie Minogue Changing Faces and Bobby Brown) it was only natural that the young Yummy would take the logical step and enter into the music industry at some point in her life.
At the age of 14, Yummys participation in the church singing group caught the attention of a big budgeted producer who setup an all-girl threesome named ‘Tha’ Rayne’ with Yummy sporting the role as centrepiece. Ultimately, it wasn’t meant to be but now we find Yummy releasing her debut solo effort ‘Come Get It’ which features Bling-King Jadakiss. The sharp to the point lyricism accompanies an almost M.O.P – Ante Up style backing track and it’s catchy, to say the least… but then again, Ante Up was ridiculously addictive too, so anything sounding remotely like it merely conjures images of that.
Considering she’s only 19 now, it’s clear that Yummy (real name Elizabeth!?) has a bright career ahead of her, and this song is going to be big sooner rather than later after already being bounced around BBC Radio 1 (the world famous). Yummy is part of the new crop, which includes Cassie and Ciara, and there is a very good reason that these girls are popular, and not all of it is down to the music… not that being male gives me a bias, or anything.
Yummy’s debut album ‘First Seed’ is out in the UK on the 9th of October.
