"You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live".
Anyone can disassociate and say "nothing matters"
But it takes a fierce sense of life to find purpose without resorting to irrationality.
About Me
Definition: Summer - the time of finest development, happiness and beauty;
"the golden summer of his life."
I was born of chaos.
I made a conscious decision to elevate beyond such, and I am responsible for myself.
A little about me: I was born the day before the autumn equinox as a "methamphetamine baby." My mother had been using since she was twelve years old, and she was eighteen when I was born.
My mother tried to kill me, at least once intentionally. Except, it's possible that it wasn't my mother at all, as she was later diagnosed with Disassociate Identity Disorder. Seen Fight Club? Something like that.
There are two very different stories to be told there, depending on whether or not that diagnosis was faked. I'm open to the possibility of either at this point.
I have been kidnapped, and I have faced a lot of other weird stuff in my lifetime. I have witnessed the premature loss of human life personally, and I have had my thoughts as well. I can also attest to the uselessness of social services in California during the period of my youth.
Yet everything comes to a culmination eventually. I reached mine.
My passions are focused primarily in neuroscience and psychology. My specialty is in self-development and epistemology. I hope one day to revolutionize the handling of psychopathy in particular. That's all.
I don't frequent the television these days. If I'm placed in a position to watch it, I generally go with House, the medical series featuring an arrogant (but brilliant) doctor.
I grew up primarily with Stargate SG-1.
Movies:
Minority Report (I associate the message with drug legalization), Equilibrium (theme is Aristotelian: your purpose for living is your own happiness), American Beauty (the organization was phenomenal, and Ricky Fitts is one of my favorite movie characters), Little Man Tate (being above the average in terms of intelligence), Fight Club (shows the dangers of collectivism and brainwashing), Harry Potter series (I liked the books before they got popular), We the Living (tragic), The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (I prefer the Swedish Lisbeth character, although the American film followed the book more accurately).
People:
Howard Roark and Ricky Fitts.
Books:
Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath, God: The Failed Hypothesis, Companions of the Night, Atlas Shrugged, Nothing Less Than Victory, Night, Aristotle for Everybody, Pretties, Uglies, Specials, Harry Potter collection, Violet Eyes, Silver Eyes, Chronicles of Narnia, Getting Things Done, Anthem, the Fountainhead, Animal Farm, the Giver, Gathering Blue, Eragon, Eldest, Diary of Ann Frank, Numbering the Stars, All of Summer in a Day, Runaway, Interview with the Vampire, Cut, Speak, Dragon Rider, Unholy Messenger, A Mango Shaped Space, Cirque du Freak saga, City of Ember, the Crusader, the Ayn Rand Lexicon, The Notebook, Diary of Jack the Ripper, Fight Club, We the Living, Lord of the Flies, Virtue of Selfishness, 1984, Night of January Sixteenth.
Places:
The city. I love skyscrapers. I also love moving water and twilight hours - the beach at night is energizing.
