You should go, but you should definitely start learning french like a year or two in advanced because they are very rude to you if you speak a word of english....then if you have an american accent it triples the rudeness.
I was there a really long time ago and I was trying to get around speaking spanish and they couldnt understand so I tried to use english and they completely turned into jackasses. I have bad experiences with the french....except if they are from the south of france.
