When I was at school there was that group mentality as well, and people often hated other groups just because they were different. dioz Okay, initially I thought you were a complete and utter internet douchebag. With your whole "how dare you add me attitude" It was a stupid unnecessary tough guy attitude, and it didn't bode well for you. Funnily enough you came back a few days later and apologized. Me being the forgiving person I am decided to give you a chance, because I didn't know many Irish people on this.
As it turned out you turned out to be pretty cool and funny. The conversation never runs dry and you're an all round nice guy. You can be a bit perverse sometimes though, and sometimes you go a bit overboard but you're a man after all it's to be expected. I think there's more to you than you give off. I also did not agree at all with your whole college plan thing. As we discussed that night, being dead honest I found it upsetting that you seemed to think little of people who worked genuinely really hard in the L.C to get to go to college, and you just opted for the lazy way out, while milking the government in the process. :P So that's all the negatives I have really.
You're super funny and you should try and get out and meet new people. SHOW THE WORLD YOUR AMAZING STEVENESS. Uh, yeah. Honestly, it is expensive with you're whole travelling thing but find people who aren't just into drinking.

Short one this time; I tried to stick to offering relatively unique viewpoints, and avoid saying things that have been said dozens of times before. Adept knows he's funny, kelsa knows she's a qt, JohnDoe knows people don't like his attitude toward women and partying, etc., so I tried to stay away from that stuff.


Adept: Not sure if it's just me or what, but you seem to have become less whimsical and more bitterly sarcastic lately. Not like you've become a jackass or anything, but it seems like there's been a subtle shift toward more negative thinking.

fball51: We used to respect the hell out of each other, and on some level I think we both still do. However, of late I feel like the South Park episode where Kyle and Kenny's dads reveal that they used to be friends when they were kids is an apt analogy for our present situation. I think we can agree that both of us are smart and capable enough to make something of ourselves given an equal opportunity; you've said as much in the past. Yet in the political arena, you still seem determined to cling to the just-world paradigm: if someone falls down, it's their own fault, and help should not be offered to such a "clod"; by contrast, if someone succeeeds then clearly they are a "god", and all the help in the world should be bestowed upon them. I know you've said you don't hold such a position, but your actions (or lack thereof in some cases) strongly suggest otherwise, which troubles me more than words can express.

Hector_of_Troy: You come off as a vacuous pretty boy most of the time; someone for whom social consciousness and awareness of the broader world are concepts so alien that you don't even notice or miss their absence. When you do try to participate in discussions more intellectual than "damn that gurl is hot", you trip over yourself so much and make your points so awkwardly that it quickly becomes obvious that you've bitten off more than you can chew.

JohnDoe: I wish I knew what to say to give you the spark of hope you need to pull yourself out of the emotional quagmire that you seem to be in. I'd suggest finding a psychologist that you get along with and can talk with openly about how you're feeling, but I suspect you've heard the same advice before. I'd tell you to trust me when I say that you'll find the answers you're looking for when you pull free from your depression, but I suspect you've heard that before. I'd tell you things will get better eventually, but I'm positive you've heard that at least a dozen times. So instead, let me ask you: how exactly have you been feeling of late, and what do you need in order to feel better? Don't answer here; give it some thought. If you don't want to tell me the answer that's fine, but I'd encourage you to tell someone.

MagnoliaTree: I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you making the effort to talk with me. I know it must be discouraging trying to talk to someone who doesn't seem interested in putting in the same effort that you are. I may be too miserable to be friendly most of the time, but knowing that someone actually wants to hear what I have to say motivates me to work on bettering myself, and I can't thank you enough for that.

ProdigalSonReturned: Almost every post of yours makes me want to acquaint my palm with my face. Part of it is your insistence on acting like an authority on subjects which you are totally ignorant of, but I'm an arrogant jackass as well, so that I can at least understand. What really galls me is A) you refuse to acknowledge your flaws (at least from what I've seen), and B) you seem to have some implicit attitudes toward women that I find seriously repugnant.

StupidBetch: Smart, spontaneous, and fun; it's easy to see why the Teenspot-going public adores you. It bothers me how one-sided your views on racial and gender issues seem to be, but it's been educational debating with you on those subjects anyway. I'm pretty well-versed on gender issues, but race is a subject that I haven't devoted a whole lot of time to. I've never really thought of racial minorities as being "different" in any meaningful way (and according to Project Implicit my implicit bias is pretty minimal), and I just kind of assumed that most people felt similarly, since racial tension wasn't really a thing where I grew up. Your arguments helped me see the issue from a different perspective, which I appreciate quite a bit, even if we did get nasty with each other sometimes.
