If you look at it- there's no real need for facebook.
It's more of a want - wish for typ-a event.
Facebook is pure useless.
Yet millions of people, if not billions at this point- find the need to do what every one else did. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkke a facebook account. What gibberish. what pure gibberish.

I just use it because it's a way for my friends and family to know what's going on in my life and for me to know what's going on in theirs without texting or calling them.

Anything but useless. I used to think it was silly pointless shit like Twitter or Myspace, but it's actually brilliant. You just need friends to make a real use for it, and I mean actual friends. You won't really care about someone off facebook who is "fb famous" or someone you barely know, say, from Teenspot. You'd need people you've met, makes Facebook pretty epic. You probably either dont have many friends or you're a massive asshole that nobody wants to know.
I use it mostly to stay in contact with friends I made in college this year, I've been able to see how they are all progressing as a result of the course we all studied, which is so cool. Get to organize events like BBQ's and stuff to go to.
Then there's posting photos and stuff, see who likes what and upload more of that kind. It's cool.
And I get to talk to my cousins in a way which is more like we are friends too. Get to see what they are doing, even if they live on the other side of the planet.
Facebook is only useless if you have no use for it. Simple.

Myspace is more useful than facebook because myspace is artistic and musical. Facebook is just words.

Facebook is great for connections - it's IM style chat/message can be like a multi-person text message which is great - rather than sending like 10 texts and those 10 sending 10 replies to keep everyone in the loop everyone sees the same shit. Brilliant organisational tool.

There was a debate .... myspace and facebook used to feel very different before myspace became very similar. Then again before Myspace (I think it was earlier) was friendster. Myspace used to be more HTML etc based as well.
2002 - Friendster
2003 - Myspace
2004 - facebook
2005 - Bebo
Facebook was initially designed as a more elitist version of the social networking paradigm as well. It started off more for students and then for the over 16s etc.COMIC SANS

Facebook is basically a family friendly way of saying hey everybody I went to high school with, look how big my dick is now. Figuritively speaking of course. It's great to keep up with old friends, stalk random people, and harass your current friends. And every once in a while it makes for decent conversation. Pictures are a big part of it too, but I think Instagram's kind of taking over in that department.

I'm flakey when it comes to keeping in touch with people, thus fb is handy for keeping in contact.

Its a social networking site. Just like this.
Granted,it is gone down hill majorly. It's just full of those nonsensical fucking pictures and quotes clogging up my news feed.
I only use it for picture sharing purposes. Only now I'm turning more towards instagram.
TWITTER FOR THE WIN.

No, Facebook is not necessary, just as is the case with many modern conviniences.
It's still a great communications tool.i know the kid with his guitar, so drunk and anxious has been
done to death, but tell me what hasn't, i'll try it.
because i'm selfish enough to wanna get better, but i'm
backwards enough not to take any steps to get there.
