    Default I am depressed

    I have realized I am depressed and my family only makes it worse. I have zero motivation to do anything with my life. I literally sleep all day and I barely eat anything anymore. When I try to go out and actually do stuff I just get really tired and sad for no reason. I want to talk to my family about it but they don't take anything I say seriously and they just bitch at me every time I open my mouth. I try to act happy in front of people but deep down I don't feel happy at all.

    And I also feel guilty because I know lots more people have it way worse than I do, and I feel pathetic and embarrassed to be depressed.

    Nothing makes me happy anymore and I guess I just wanted to vent here.

    I have the same promblelm, I always feel like that if u need someone to talk and need someone to understand I'm always on I don't do anything.

    I've been like that at points in my life, and I bet your parents have too. Just tough it out and also get some exercise because oversleeping makes you feel like shit.

    If you can, try to talk to someone about it. Depression is a horrible illness and the quicker you can be freed from it, the better

    yeah, sleeping too much definitely does fuck your mind up. you're not doing anything with your life, which probably causes a lot of sadness in your life. do something...get a job at least. i was like that. just stayed home and did nothing, and once i got a job, i felt more productive and more useful. get up and do something. you're just wasting away and not doing anything

    Get a job, start exercising regularly, start eating healthy and get a girlfriend. Or just get somoene to reglarly sleep with.

    And I can't count the number of places I have tried applying to. The middle of summer is not a good time to go job hunting.

    well...yes depression comes to everyone in it's own wy... but you dont have to feel embarrassed bot it..
    Your just confused at the moment..tryna figure out wats wrong....y dont you try giving youself ansrs instead of more questions 4 a change...try doing different activities...don't let your mood control you...remember your the one who chooses your mood...just relax....do what makes you happy...talk to someone.....if you dont wana talk to some1 you know...try to find some1 online who would be interested to listen to you...sometime your answers are hidden in your questions itself... hope i helped...tk...

    Start a random hobby and goal. Collect cds, go for a run, do crunches for the heck of it. Find ways to improve yourself, maybe instead of a job, volunteer somewhere that interests you and you may eventually find yourself a good job.

    go to the doctor, they'll be able to offer you coping techniques (although these can be found online if for whatever reason you wish to avoid the doctor)/therapy sessions/medication.
    Please don't feel guilty for the way you feel, depression isn't just a case of "snapping out of it" or "feeling down". I hope you manage to find help before things feel worse.

    You sound like me about three or four years ago, almost to a T.

    -I suffered from seemingly baseless depression, obsessive compulsive tendencies, attention deficit disorder, hypochondria, insomnia, and extreme social anxiety. I became a very secluded person who projected a lot of anger towards decent, concerned, well-meaning people in my life.

    -My mother and my best friend of 16 years, who are doubtlessly my two best friends on the planet, both struggled through very difficult childhoods and young adulthoods -- physical and sexual abuse, neglectful parents with substance abuse addictions, very controlling boyfriends (my mom spent 6 years with one; my best friend had a kid with one)... I grew up with average childhood problems, and had a good family support system. So as backwards as it may seem or sound, I felt completely unentitled to feel such misery, knowing how worse off things could be. So, I didn't tell anyone.

    Insteeeeaaad, I took the classic way out and adopted countless addictions -- uppers, downers, booze, impulsive sex, deeper seclusion...
    And now, I'm just starting college over again because I failed out, have a shiny DUI on my record, have a terrible relationship with my parents (who I still live with at 23 years old), and am just now repairing my relationship with my best friend (as she stopped talk to me for 7 months after I got hammered and slept with her ex). Still cripplingly dependent on a lot of the aforementioned things, and feel less and less inclined to get help as time passes, because I've grown comfortable with this destructive self-medicating.

    Please don't think I don't know how unbelievably pathetic I just made myself look.
    My life IS pathetic.
    PLEASE go talk to someone and sort your shit out in a healthy, constructive way. Of course its uncomfortable, but its benefit certainly outweighs the alternative of putting it off.

    done to death, but tell me what hasn't, i'll try it.
    because i'm selfish enough to wanna get better, but i'm
    backwards enough not to take any steps to get there.

    What does make you happy? Do that. Fuck depression, seriously, and I say that with all my heart going out to you because, there is no point being sad, hardly anyone can understand because they don't feel what you are, so to me, I feel like it's only hurting you so why choose to be sad when you can be happy. Yes, you have a choice.

    For once..you've got all the help you need in this thread. I have nothing more to add.

    Just remember to keep you head up and stay strong. See a counsellor at school. Talk to your friends and be open with them.

    Its hard to get out of depression circle once you get into it. I would suggest doing some exercises or physical work. Doing something physical releases natural chemicals in your brain that makes you feel better. It might not solve problems but it might at least make you feel better.
