The guy who had a his two kids (one was the 3 month old) and his GF in the theater, ran out and left them there, then drove off only to come back later after everything was over and proposed to her...and she said yes.

Rather be a pussy than dead. Sorry but I'm the most important person in my life, that doesn't mean I don't love them.

in this case i'm going to die
if it was a girl it would be heroic if it was a guy it would be 'what a lad taking that hit'
anyway the man should always protect his girlfriend in a life or death situation, he is a man

I think it all depends on how much time you been together with that person and how many feelings are involved.

Not really logical if you think about it, just because one is born a women doesn't mean they immediately get rights to life over a man.

I’m amazed that anyone has the courage to take a bullet for anyone else. I’m 99% sure I’d be way too terrified to anything really, and I certainly wouldn’t think less of anyone for not taking a bullet for someone else.

JavaTC does have a point. Would you sacrifice yourself just so a few months later he/she can totally forget about you and just find another partner?

Fair play, but I think it's more of a personal thing. I'd give up my life to save a girl I loved, I just think as a man, I should protect her and I definitely would not want her to give up her life to save me.

    Your point does make sense.
But then again, I don't think ANYONE would forget somebody who saved their life.
Those women most likely never fully get over those guys, unless there's something wrong with them.

Of course they'll never forget him, I've never forgot my grandfather who taught me so much. However, you come to accept that they're one, unless you're over emotional, but it's not like it plagues your life for 20 years to come, life goes on without them.

Besides, if you wouldn't have dived, it might not have been a fatal blow and the woman may have lived, and you could go on and contribute more towards society. You never know how these things end, so it's better to wait and see how it pays out rather than kill yourself for someone else. Sounds heroic when you talk about it, but think about the kind of sacrifice that is.

If someone died saving me I would never forget him or her...
I would mourn for a long time...
But I would easily fall in love again and be with someone else...

I definitely would not. I would be depressed for a long time, in fact seeing a loved one killed would be horrible, and incredibly disrespectful if you went a dated someone else shortly after. It would take me a long time maybe 5 years to even think about dating again.

Are you saying youd want your other half to spend the rest of their life sobbing over you? You would have jumped in front of a bullet so they could LIVE no?
Well I guess this is what it feels like to be the ocean...
