Every time I hear about this, it makes me sad, and a bit scared. No one's safe, but I guess no one's ever really been safe.

I just watched on the news that he was trying to mimic the Bane character. Apparently he wore a gas mask and used tear gas. If that is true then that is pretty messed up. But it could just be a rumor that the news station made up.

They canceled all Dark Knight ads on NBC and ESPN. WTF?! And people are blaming the movie?! This is horrible. STOP BLAMING THIS SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED IN COLORADO ON THE DARK KNIGHT MOVIE. FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, THE SHOOTER WAS A NUTCASE. THAT'S ALL. Maybe stop blaming movie and blame the government who can't seem to control gun laws, and nutjobs like this get a hold of guns and do stuff like this. Damn I am pissed.
Also, although this is a tragedy I did have a WTF moment when I found out that the youngest victim was a 3 month old baby. Who takes a 3 month old to a midnight screening of a PG-13 movie?

The baby was not shot or wounded, just had blood on it. They're removing the ads, most likely, because they don't want all this negativity associated with it. It also seems pretty crass to have Dark Knight Rises commercials run after a bunch of people just got killed at the screening of said movie.
They're going to have to blow his apartment up because they don't feel they can safely disarm the bombs.

Er, no. Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist, the Unabomber was a terrorist, the IRA are terrorists, and all of them are white. Meanwhile, the DC snipers were black, but were not terrorists and were never accused of hate crimes. Terrorism is violence used to inflict terror on a populace in order to promote a political goal or cause; violence undertaken for other reasons does not satisfy the definition of terrorism, no matter how gruesome the results may have been.

I think this is the first time I'd ever agree with you on anything.
This issue is all my friends are talking about, and honestly, it's kinda tiring saying the same stories over and over. I have a friend on FB who let out a huge bitch rant about how "we only care about this because the media pushed it, but they never push the deaths of every army member that has died since the war has started." (this kid's in the army). Shit is just hitting the fan because of this event.

First, of all... this is a terrible event. :\ Super sad.
Second of all...

SERIOUSLY? 41 people are less likely to go to the movies now? You've got to be kidding me. Might as well not get in a car anymore because someone crashed... heck, might as well not eat a hot dog because someone's choked on it. Get real.

"You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go 'according to plan'. Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all 'part of the plan'. But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!"

First found out about this on some talk show on the radio when I was driving this afternoon. The blame game is almost as sickening as the tragedy itself.
"Isn't today the start of Ramadan?"
"I guarantee you this guy was part of the Occupy movement!"
"We need to strenghten gun laws!"
"He was part of the Tea Party!"“Only when you combine sound intellect with emotional discipline do you get rational behavior.”

The blame game is always something that gets out of hand really quickly, sad to say.

I found out my longtime friend was admitted to the hospital after being slammed head first onto a wall, from the chaos; left for dead. Passing by shooter's home - still heavily secured.

The shooting was a tragedy but It is really sad that the release of this masterpiece will forever be burdened by this event. Maybe they should not blame the movie but instead blame the government for letting nutjobs get ahold of guns...
