i mean not many of us are going to need algebra in our life. who on earth is going to need an equation like
5y+3x4y-45=78
such a waste of time figuring out an answer to that. teachers we dont freaking need it!

when you're a macca's cashier, and some dickhead comes up with $12 asking for 10 cheeseburgers and as many softs serves as he can buy:
$12 = $0.99(10) + $0.30(x)

This.
Although, the OP does have a point. If you don't intend to go into business, finance, engineering, science, then yes, you don't need algebra. Oh, lots of trades also require the use of algebra: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, manufacturing, etc.
So if you have no interest in any of those things, I suppose flipping burgers or giving blowjobs on the street corner doesn't require any algebra at all.

math is about thinking. yes its true that most people won't use the math skills they learn later in life but what you do learn is enhanced analytical skills and more complex thought processing/problem solving.

There's more of a point to that then English. Why would you need to know the POS for a word? Really.

Algebra's point is to allow you to solve mathematic equations. These types of problems are used with finance which includes how much you would spend for something.

Arithmetic and algebra is the foundation for higher forms of math like trig and calculus. Also, you need to understand how algebra works, or your little calculator isn't going to tell you much.

Wait I am 13 and I am doing that stuff right now... Look it's not that hard it only takes a few minutes to do it!!! You have to go thru algebra anyways, and if you want a good job you have to go thru that before you can get thru college

Guys algebra isn't the hard stuff. Just be glad you're not doing matrices, vectors and other useless sums...
