    Default PMS; a mental disorder?

Sometimes I feel the world is too ridiculous.

i read some paper where they claimed that pms is actually social construction, where you feel certain way because you have been conditioned to behave that way as some social norm.

Cant recall which one was it, but i found it quite interesting to look at it from that perspective.

I disagree. I get actual physical symptoms of PMS. My nipples get sore, I bloat, and I cramp.

I wouldn't call it a mental disorder. I don't think it happens for a long enough period enough to actually fit into mental disorders and warrant going into the DSM.
Also, if it's so common, then it's the norm, thus it's not a disorder.
Even PMDD is a hormonal problem, is it not? I'm iffy as to if I believe that it should be classified as a mental disorder or not. Yes they are mental changes, but there are also physical changes. I don't think that cognitive behavioural therapy would be beneficial to someone with PMDD the same way it would benefit a person suffering depression or manic states. I think it would be best to just classify it under medical disorder, as those suffering it are probably treated with hormone therapy.
