Default Advertised broadband speed + usage vs Actual speed and usage

    What are you paying for?

How much is it? (Post in equivalent to US$)

    What are you actually getting?

Also, What's your download limit, if any.

    -

    Myself..
Paying for 24Mb down, 800K up.
    It's $37 per month.
Getting 19Mb down and 780K up.
    No download limit

500Gb in a month? That's crazy. Most I've ever downloaded was just under 300Gb. Must have sucked to have your net cut in half though.

oh, yes it does. and it's noticeable too. I need to call and complain about my upload and say something like "okay. i won't complain about not getting advertised upload if you "unfix" my download so I have what I used to have" or something.

I have a 10/1 Mb line for around US $30/m. That is plenty fast for my use. I almost always get my money's worth (i.e. the ~1.2 MB down that I pay for).

I could get a 100/10 Mb line for about US $80/m, but that would be like buying a lifetime's supply of toilet paper just because I can...

Fios 50Mbps down/25Mbps up $80 (I share it with my family). At the box it's pretty close to that speed but in my room the wireless speed is like 25% slower most of the time. No cap that I know of.

    I'm advertised at 3Mbps Burst/2 Down/1 up for $35/month.

I generally get 2-3mbps down, and 1-1.4 up.

It's such a refreshing change from dial-up that I was stuck with forever, also no cap.

Someone explain to me how I'm getting download speeds of 7.1MB/s on a DSL line.

That's 70Mb on a phone line. I thought the max was around 30 for copper.

I am NOT telling my ISP about this. Been 2 weeks now.

    Little white lie..

It hits 7MB/s for about a minute out of every 10 or so.

    Otherwise, tops at 2.2MB/s.

Still though, a minute of 7MB/s makes you think what's possible.

You can't go by "peak" on steam.. i had a peak of 185MB/w once... doesn't mean I had 185MB/s.

Also, I'm now on 30/2. at least, that's what I get.. idk if I'm supposed to have more upload or not. I should call and ask.
