now, thats ignorant. but lets put that aside, you're basically saying anyone who doesn't have a disorder can't speak on a disorder? if that were true, lots of people wouldnt have jobs today

and that's why the people who have jobs call them disorders. An eating disorder doesn't differ much from any other mental disorder. The brain is toxic, you know...

I'm actually in recovery from anorexia right now. If anyone ever tells you you can't overcome it, don't believe it. If you get the right help, things do get better. It's impossible to overcome it on your own, but if you get that help, things get so much better. There were days when I literally thought I would just die, but having someone be there to help you through is soooo important and helpful. If any of you ever need anyone, i'm here for you<3 you're all beautiful!

it is a disorder, im not denying that. im just saying its a stupid disorder caused by something a person can fully control if they stop being so shallow.

that's what I am explaining you, if the person was able to control it, it wouldn't be called disorder, it would be called stupidity.

oh, im using that term very loosely when i say that. yeah, its disorder, but the disorder is caused by you being a shallow spoiled bitch. stop being a shallow bitch and maybe you wont feel like you have to fuck your body up. eating disorders are a result of a superficial society that can afford to toss things other people are dying to have. your body NEEDS to eat, it sends signals to tell you to eat, its a biological need, and you're denying yourself from fulfilling that need. you're basically slowly committing suicide and torturing yourself because you want to achieve a certain image. deal with your insecurities and work on your self esteem. you wouldn't go down that path if you really tried, but they just want quick results and they drive themselves into this unhealthy disorder. its just like lung cancer. i dont feel sorry for most people with lung cancer because they caused it to themselves, and im not talking about the people that were exposed to asbestos or anything like that. you knew those cigarettes would fuck you up, but you decided to smoke anyways because it made you feel good. anyone that intentionally harms themselves gets no sympathy from me.

That's a wrong perception. The causes are chemical and that's why it is very hard to treat such disorders just with psychological help.

if anorexia was actually caused by a disorder of the nervous system, then it would be a neurological disorder. but, correct me if im wrong, its not caused by that. its caused by someone being extremely insecure and sensitive to the point where they will harm themselves to please society. thats something that can be controlled if they can change the way they think.

Eating disorders are considered psychological disorders.

There's a huge difference between the girl that says, "Well I want to look good in this bikini in three months but I'm too lazy and prissy to hop on a treadmill so I'll just quit eating", and the girl who, no matter what she weighs or looks like, honestly sees herself as fat. The girl who simply stops eating because she thinks she'll magically be a model three months later is an idiot. The girl who sees an obese person in the mirror even when she weighs 90 pounds has an illness that should not be taken lightly.

It is a neurological disorder. That's what psychiatrists study and that's why it's a whole seperate branch. Anorexics can't change the way they think, as Kiralicious said, they see an obese person.

Thank you Kirkalicious. Jboob I don't think you understand. A lot of people don't, but kirk explained it pretty well I think. I used to be morbidly obese. I would look in the mirror and see fat. I went on a diet, and my control issues and emotions took it too far. Fourty pounds down and I didn't see any difference. Some people would tell me I look thinner, but I couldn't see it. All of my clothes were falling off of me, but I would look in the mirror and feel like I was getting bigger. It's confusing, and it's a horrible thing to go through. People don't understand that it's more than just about losing weight, and that includes you. I made this forum and in the first post I said to please not post disresecting things, and you have. So please keep your comments to yourself, or post on some other forum if you want to express yourself. Thanks.
