    Default Weed in canada

So how is weed treated up in the great white north, here if you're over the age of 45 it's almost like its demonized, is weed much more socially accepted there? What are the punishments if caught?

possession is pretty soft, usually dropped or a warning is given. they are more after the large scale dealers. Other than that I smoke weed several times a day in public view, parks, plazas, etc and this is within the Greater Toronto Area, cops harass once in a while but they are pretty chill. Medical Marijuana in Canada is getting settled nicely and I look forward to legalization very soon.

Weed was sooo close to being legalized here by the senate, but they backed down because of threats from the DEA. The study they commissioned is still considered one of the most cmoprehensive studies for the legalization of marijuana.
Penalties are extremely soft, but I'd expect that to change. The conservatives got a majority in the last election, and they're trying to push through harsher penalties for basically about everything, including mandatory minimum sentences based on the systems in some US states. We all know how that worked out...
Hopefully, the NDP (Socialist/Center Party) wins the next election, since they have a very good stance on just about everything.

P.S. You should also know that although there may be harsher drug laws in effect in the future, they probably won't be followed. Cops generally jus tend to confiscate your weed and let you go, though sometimes you can get unlucky and get some bitter jackass. Basically, the more you got, the more likely you are of getting canned

P.P.S. Its very socially acceptable here.

It's decriminalized to carry up to 30g.
You'll get a fine if you're caught, but it wont go on your record. Anything more than that(or 1g of hash) it's considered intent to sell and that WILL go on your record.

It's much more socially acceptable here(At least where I'm from)

You pretty much find it everywhere you go up here. Hell, the older brother of one of my best friends is a dealer. I would imagine it would be WAY different in the states (You can thank Reagan for that .... What a hard ass)

Except for the freakin conservatives. I say get out of our pockets and our lives. But maybe that's the liberal in me. Never liked Harper anyhow...to much discrimination for my liking.

If you're caught with any, any at all, it's possession. This is right from the cops, people. And if they get you with intent to sell it's worse. Either way, no matter what country you're in, it's still a dumb thing to do lmao.

Cops in my city don't charge you for possession unless you have a large amount. I don't know if it's different in every city, but if you only have a little bit, then they don't do anything. Smoking it is not illegal, possession is only considered illegal (at least my city's police force) if you have a lot - the only thing about weed that they consider illegal here is dealing it. Dealers are constantly being arrested or charged, but people who smoke it in public are free to do so. I don't know this from personal experience - I'm fairly anti-drug - but I know too many stoners, one of which who has constantly been searched (my sister) and let free just because she had a small amount on her.

the point is they can charge you with anything if they want to be dicks but useals there fairly chill because police see it all and know that pot isent as serious as some parens and people think they deal with way more calls of drunk people doing thins than people blazing and getting into trouble
