Then you know nothing of science. Almost a 1/5 of people alive in western societies today have the privilege of surviving birth thanks to scientists. Countless more, if you include those who won't die from or be greatly harmed by childhood illnesses like polio. Science should leave no rock undisturbed in the search for knowledge.

if you object in a simply moral way, i bet there were those who objected to the vaccines for polio and small pox and the bubonic plague, and countless other not naturally occuring vaccines. If you disagree on religious grounds (and yes i am a christian myself) then answer, why, if god didnt intend for us to grow to this point in knowledge with science would he have created us with the potential for such cognative abilities? He could have easily wired our brains to stay a few IQ points lower and keep wondering what a rock is made of for a thousand years, but he gave us the potential for knowledge that led to this, so i think its a fine project to check out.
