I tried for 2 years and never even got an interview. I applied at EVERY store. Even fast food shit. It's probably a lot easier when you know people that can put a word in for you or whatever.

Knowing someone there really does help. I went a year and a half between interviews applying at a crap load of places (including Walmart and I HATE WALMART) to get a job interview for the meat department at a grocery store because my friend worked at the store like a year and a half/two years before I put in that application. The call back was like a week.

Applying at places you frequent also helps because they'll know your face. Like I applied at the Gamestop I use 8 times out of 10 and got an interview because the dude that took my application to the manager knew my face.

This. I got my job at Home Depot because of my mom working there, and my friend's mom works there too.

But before, I'd apply everywhere. Literally turned in about 50 applications within a few weeks. I had two interviews at Five Guys (fast food), but the managers both got fired before I ever got a callback. It was horrific.

Sad, but it really does depend on who you know.

I really need to get off of those dating sites. I need real/better friends, or need to just learn to be a loner.

it's human instinct to need social interaction. there's nothing wrong with that.
although, it is beneficial to learn how to be on your own for when you can't have other people around you all the time.

my alone time is sacred to me. sometimes i prefer being alone then being with people.
but i still get the urge to be around others.

Knowing people doesn't always help. The first interview I ever went on was at McDonald's. That is the only job interview I did not got a job offer from. The guy asked what hs I went to,, I told him he then proceed to tell me he knew quite a few people from my classes.. as soon as he said that I knew I wasn't getting the job.

I didn't know anyone at Target, I didn't know anyone at Wal-Mart, etc..

I'm not applying at stores/fast food. I'm strictly going for factory jobs. I've been offered several. But they're to far away or not enough money.
