No I used to have to wear one and it was a control technique they gave you a free dress day if you behaved or gave the school money like you would give a dog a treat if it did a trick. Also there is nothing worse than having the freedom of having your choice of clothes taken away looking around and see your just like all the other people in your school.

That's just pathetic. I'm a pretty tolerant person, but this is idiotic.
Looking like everyone else in your school is not the worst thing in the world. Freedom of clothing choice isn't as vital as people make it seem. I wore uniforms K-8th grade and I never had a problem with it. If anything, it took away some of the stress of "looking good" every day. We had to come up with creative ways to express ourselves that didn't break the dress code, but that wasn't really a problem.

i don't think school uniforms are necessary. they seem like a waste of money to me. students should be free to wear what they want, as long as it isn't distracting from the learning environment. just my opinion.

The-Cat-In-The-Hat
I used to have to wear uniforms to and it really bothered me because I use clothes as a part of the way I express myself and uniforms don't let me do that.

Its compulsory in South Africa, had to wear a blazer and stuff, sucked especially in summer.Didn't care though, its just school man.
"Doctor, I can't work out what's wrong with me!"
"You've got AIDS."
Somehow, the African version of House just wasn't quite as gripping.

I'ts compulsary in England aswell. I don't see whats so bad about wearing them. There easier, you don't have to think about what to wear every morning. When your a parent esepcially it works out alot cheaper than buying clothes every week. I spent £35 on a uniform for my daughter which was a dress, 2 pairs of trousers, jumper, shoes, 3 polo shirts and P.E kit.So that works out way cheaper especially for the families that can't afford it.

It's compulsory in Scotland too
tbh I quite like it. It makes you the same as everyone else and it brings a sense of unity to the school. Also, in our 6th year we have different ties and we wear blazers, so younger members of the school know who their head boy + girl, deputes and prefects are, such people wouldnt be easily identified in their own clothes

Yes. I preferred having a uniform as I didn't have to worry about what I was going to wear on weekdays. Now I will never wear one again which means I have to invest in more clothes.

I hate my school uniform as much as the next kid, but to be honest it cuts down bullying. At my school there is a huge divide between popular/fashion kids, and people like me who don't really follow the crowd and wear different clothes. If we was to wear out own clothes people like me would get the mick taken out of us for not wearing the stuff there wear. But there should be more none-uniform days because we need days to express our selves in front of others.
