What is even funnier is that people seem to care how others believe the world was created. In the end, does it really matter? The universe and life was created, not matter how. Believing in a deity, deities, or not doesn't change that or make anyone any better. We all have morals and beliefs we follow regardless. some christians believe that the world is 6,000 years old. some don't. theres evidence that either one may be true. did you know that an airplane that crashed into a glacier was frozen so far in just 40 years later, that using whatever scientific method they use to date those things told them it was there for 2,000 plus years? and carbon dating isn't even that accurate either. but on another note, some christians believe that there was a long time between "God created the heavens and the Earth" and when he actually created everything else. Which would indeed give the earth enough time to become 2 billion years old, like scientists say.

At least for Catholics, you are never required to pay. You are asked to donate 10% of your money for church maintenance, but you are free to give as much or as little as you want, as it is a completely voluntary gift.
