Personally, I believe the mothers' are trying to live in their daughters' shoes.
They probably didn't do beauty shows like that when they were younger so now they can.
Poor babies.

I saw the one with the little boy entered in it... and they were putting nail polish on him. All I could think about it is how much ridicule he's going to face his whole life if anyone sees that show.

They're repulsive hogs living vicariously through their children who are going to grow up so self-centered and superficial that they're going to be piss poor parents, too.
Vicious cycle.

The show is ridiculous as is the concept.
To me prematurely sexualizing toddlers is inane. What kid really wants to get all dolled up and prance around on stage instead of running around outside playing in mud? And some of these children are just infants (6-12 months old). They can't even have a say in the matter.
And the limits some of these parents go to (eg. spray on tans, false teeth, plastic surgery.) It's just stupid. The parents are just as bad for supporting or even pushing this.
This guys' got contingency plans for his contingency plans, its like we're battling a super villain.

I like it. I think some of the girls and their moms are pretty respectable. What a lot of people forget is that the girls don't walk around in full glitz all day every day and that they actually ENJOY being in pageants. It makes them happy and I like how even when some girls don't win Grand Supreme the moms are still proud and make sure their daughters know they did well.
