I'm debating whether to get my nails done.
Some people say the french tips look tacky and bimbo-ish, but whenever I get a simple manicure, they only last 3 days.
What's everyone's opinion on fake nails? and I'm talking all of it, the french tips and the coloured tips, and all those weird designs.

Fake nails?
You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. - Fight Club ;D

I get my nails manicured every 2 or 3 weeks. I usually get the french tips, but sometimes I'll get the colored tips. You should look online for a good, respectable nail place in your area, because the manicure should last a good 2 weeks if it's done right.

I think they have a tendency to look tacky, but also that they're unnecessary. Then again, I'm not a fan of long nails at all. I'd rather have mine short and manicured than have giant fake tips that make it hard to type and handle objects and are constantly breaking. I've had them when I was younger and besides being a waste of money, they destroyed my real nails. It took ages to grow them out to a healthy state again. Now I look back and wonder why I bothered doing it at all. I would just think it through 100% because once you have them put on you can't easily turn back.

I don't think they're tacky, and if you get the raelly long ones, just cut them to the size you want. That's what I do.

I'd get something a little more subtle than french tips if you don't want them to look tacky. And obviously get them done to a reasonable length, nobody likes claws.

i've only gotten my nails done once professionally, and i got french tips but they were short and didn't look tacky. buuut i work in retail and it was a pain in the butt to do anything with them. and of course since the place that did them is really good they lasted for a solid month..but i wanted them off sooner! i'm sure if you do it regularly you get used to it, but i'm not one to spend 30 bucks on nails every few weeks.

um. yh. i love my nails.
mine are naturally long and thick but i get acrylic over them so the paint stays.
i dont think that nails are tacky. i think that if you are tacky your nail will be tacky.
but sometimes i like to have fun with my nails and get "ghetto" designs. but never did it make me less of a person.
so. moral of the story. nails are only tacky if you are tacky.

The only people i see with crazy designs on their nails, are black people, and i find that EXTREMLY tacky and think of like
"OOO GURL YOU AINT WANNA BE TAWLKIN TO ME LIKE DAT" wavin their fingers all around, and poutin their lips.
i get french tips. if youre a white girl you should probably stick to french tips.

I've never gotten fake nails before because my nails grow too fast and they'd just grow out and I'd waste money.
It's perfectly possible for you to get them without them looking tacky.
1. Don't get them super long. Get them the same length as your nails.
2. Don't get acrylic, get gels. Acrylic tends to look super unnaturally square sometimes.
3. If you to get acrylic make sure they don't look like blocks, it's not a good look.
4. Don't get any tacky designs with them. Get a solid color or french tips.

French tips will only look "tacky and bimbo-ish" if you have them like super long, and curved downward and such, when they're neatly kept, and you paint them a solid colour, or get a manicure, or just a small design on the tips or something, they can actually look very nice.

You can get even store bought fake nails with the french tips and just trim them down to just past the end of your finger, then file them smooth.
Looks perfectly natural and they usually last me a couple weeks, I have no problem with grabbing things or getting them caught on shit but they do ruin your real nails, just as any artificial nails will.
store bought acrylic nails, trimmed and filed.

If you leave them long, yeah, they look like shit.
However, cut them to just about line up with the end of your finger and they look great.
For example, these were my nails for my wedding; they are fake and I did them myself for under 8 bucks.

These on the other hand look like shit and it's easy to tell they're fake;
