Wouldn't you want more people celebrating your holiday, keeping it popular?

there is more evidence that support existence of man named Jesus than most of other important historical figures. only thing up to debate is if he is son of god or not.
and mind you same thing is said by secular scholars and scientist so its not some religious biased thing.

Some atheists enjoy the season and its meaning, while not necessarily believing that Christmas is Jesus's birthday. I don't believe in all that hooey, but I really enjoy Christmas because it's just a happy time of year. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so. Plus, the way it's celebrated nowadays has very little to do with Jesus anyway, so claiming that atheists shouldn't be able to take part in a celebration because of their beliefs is stupid.

I celebrate Christmas so my father won't find out I'm an Agnostic.
And for the presents. So to answer your question, yes. It's very commercial.

You sound as if someone just took a piss in your cheerios and a dump in your new shoes.
Yes it originated from a certain religion but people celebrate it for various reasons, other than the one you celebrate it for. I celebrate it because it's a time for family members to gather and just be happy, and ignore the shit that may occur in the other 364 days. The present and food is a way to achieve this, although I'll agree with you that it's become more commercialized.

Christmas actually meaning "Christ's mass," I wish non-Catholics would come up with a new name for the holiday. Y'all don't even go to mass on the day you celebrate Christ's mass.

Fyi what the fuck are you talkig about? Sure Jesus may not have been this messiah nonsense but there is solid evidence he existed. Maybe you should learn what the fuck you're talking about before posting next time
Anyhow, the beauty of being an atheist is religion has no impact so if you want to celebrate Christmas, DOIT
It's no worse than the Christians who cast aside the true meaning of Christmas. No matter what the religion is, most people don't give a fuckLast edited by RAM3N-N00DL3S; 12-28-2009 at 06:04 PM.
This is supposed to be a happy occasion.
Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.

I disagree. Christmas is both secular and religious. An atheist can celebrate the secular aspect of Christmas.

My boyfriend is an atheist and he celebrates Christmas. For me Christmas is more about spending time with the people I care about rather than religion.
