I think a higher education is mostly useless without social skills. Without social skills, you could probably find the cure for AIDS, then just be ignored.

2: Is this open to the world, or just theUnited Statescountries that have seemingly terrible public education systems?

I know a family where the two older kids went to high school but the two younger ones were home-schooled. In terms of intelligence there is no obvious difference and in terms of social interaction they're all as brilliant as each other. They're the perfect family - wonderful people and they get on so well. The only thing that I disagree with about the younger two getting home-schooled is that it meant I didn't get to know them years ago at school when I could have done with such fantastic people in my life.

I know a handfull of home schooled kids.
But all of them did dance with me so they were put in social enviorments. They weren't weird at all. More normal than the people at my school. I'm probably more anti-social than them. lol.

A kid I played hockey with for five years was homeschooled. He was completely socially retarded, though I think it may be more because he was adopted, Asian, and a certifiable genius than because he was homeschooled.
The story's been told a million times
But it's different when it's your life.

I knew a chick who was homeschooled until she decided she wanted to go to public school in the 7th grade to see what it was like. She was really smart but she was socially awkward. She didn't really have any friends except for me and my friend and even we didn't hang out all that much outside of P.E. class because at lunch she would rather go to the soccer field and pretend she was a wolf instead of hang out with us.

At least she got a chance to pretend to be a wolf outside of her house. My biological mother is religious to the point of insanity.
I made friends on purpose hard. I needed any and every excuse not to go home. She wouldn't let me go out like normal kids and rip and run around the neighborhood. Fucking half my life in my bedroom. Probably why I like anything female, fat or not. I'm not socialized.

I knew a guy at church who was homeschooled. I was nice to him at first because he was so socially awkward. Then he started calling me night after night and stared at me ... like blantly stared throughout the entire church meeting. I was so angry that whenever he tried to talk to me, I would either leave and cut him off mid-sentence or pretend I couldn't hear him. My grandma had to ask the bishop to talk to the guy about how much he was pestering me and he left the church.
I realize this makes me sound mean, but he really was annoying.
I know a girl from church who is also homeschooled. She is a sweet girl, but it is very exhausting to be around her for too long.Last edited by Amour_; 06-14-2009 at 03:53 AM.

I don't have opinions on homeschooled kids, but I won't homeschool my children, I think you learn alot about life in public schools.
Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

I was homeschooled and I found nothing wrong with it. Sure you don't meet a lot of new people or learn whats "normal" in the public eye, but it can end up being better. In the way of inteligence there is no difference. However, for some people it is better. Like me for instance, I would have had a hard time in public school due to questioning the ability of the teacher in whatever subject or knowing that what they said is wrong and correcting it. Another would be how many fights I would get into because some idiot wanted something to prove to his retard friends. Finally ther is the mental disorders that have to be taken into account. It all depends on the person and whether or not they can handle it or want to deal with it. Other then that, there is nothing.

i would HATE to be homeschooled.. being at home all day drives me nuts, and i like meeting new people all the time.
when i hear someone is homeschooled i immediately think that they dont know anyone and they dont know how to party. which is usually true.

Do you honestly expect there to be statistics? What's "weird" is completely subjective; the best they could do is take peer social acceptance ratings. But even then; it's still subjective.
They are usually weird because they aren't used to peer contact and haven't learned how to react in social situations.RIP Brad. I miss you like crazy already.

I feel bad for homeschooled kids.
I'm not about to start slamming "weird kids", because I've been one of those for as long as I can remember, but kids who are homeschooled have, like, NOOOO interpersonal communication skills.
Oh yeah, and Mommy issues.Love, and all that jazzy jazz
