Interesting site that I came across today. Basically a place where one can bet (with real money) on the outcome of current events. Perhaps an opportunity to make some money this November, as Obama will most likely win? I'm considering it.

I made around a hundred quid on Romney being nominated. Might start betting on Obama, but are the odds significantly better than 57%? Not sure if its worth it.

Had to google to find out what the hell a quid was :p

Yeah I would rather wait a month or two and see how the race is shaping up. See how his VP pick impacts the race, if at all. And speaking of VP, I might bet against Pawlenty being chosen. I can envision Romney picking a noncontroversial economic policy wonk like Mitch Daniels or Rob Portman, a.k.a the "boring middle-aged white guy" candidate (both of whom are from key states). Or at the opposite end of the spectrum, a minority or a woman that could bolster support in demographics where Romney desperately needs support. Pawlenty doesn't really fit into either category, and his only potential advantage would be to boost enthusiasm among the Evangelical Christian base. Of course, the base's hatred of Obama means that they would probably go to the polls and vote for the GOP candidate no matter what.

Oh, and a strike against Iran before the year is out? Probably not gonna happen. Israel would never be foolish enough to hit them during a US presidential campaign (although some say that they should strike before the election!). So with that, we have narrowed the window down to less than two months after Nov 6. I just don't see any indication whatsoever that a strike is imminent.

Okay so since the mods are too Nazi to allow my slam I'll post it here. Thought of this when I was watching John Adams...the characters match so well. For Quick and fball, anyway.

    Mr Quick: Thomas Jefferson

    fball: Alexander Hamilton

    muse: Ben Franklin

    me: John Adams

I know very little about Franklin (being English), so be interested to know any expansion on the reasons behind why I am like him.

Don't have any major objections to the association based on a quick look on wikipedia though.

Well, because Franklin traveled a good deal and did some of his best governmental work as a diplomat. You're sort of the British representative to WA&P. Plus he was into science and shit and you like math...so yeah!

Move into flat with three mates in central London in two weeks, can't wait!

Also, am I allowed to become massively right-wing once I see the amount of tax on my first pay-cheque?

Haven't seen you in forever, Rocky. Also how old is everyone here? I feel like we too old for this place.

QE3! Probably won't do much for the economy, but my stock investments are liking it!

Lincoln trailer just came out...holy tits. Glad to see Daniel Day Lewis is actually portraying Lincoln's voice accurately.

I could hang around here until 2015 or so without looking like a total loser (or as much as a TS user can't be a loser). But I doubt I will. The real thing preventing me from leaving this site right now though is lack of a suitable alternative

a fellow law student was arguing with me today that both creationism and evolution are equally valid because both are equally unable to go back in time and directly SEE things as they happen

and that evolution is only a "theory"

    i'm sad now
