"I play on PS2 a lot, so I am a proper gamer"
PROPER gamers play PC games. Better graphics, faster loading times, better games. Just BETTER in general.
My GF plays Halo too. she's not very good at it yet but she's getting there.
If you want to see good female gamers in action play World of Warcraft. Half the level 60 people are female.

Actually I find consoles to be more traditional, maybe if a little more anti-social but I can't find the point in playing Fifa, Madden, GTA games, Star Wars battlefront or any other good ps2 game on the PC. I used to play games like BF1942 and Op Flash but I feel I have grown out of that nowadays.
What I mean by proper gamer is that whenever I think of games I picture myself and a few m8s in front of the ps2 being really competitive rather than having them come round and take turns on PC like I used to.Stevo's MySpace Website

I've met a few female gamers no offense they weren't very good, but I know they're are amazing girls out there who could kill me in tons of games. My girlfriend plays Halo and Halo2 sometimes at party's but shes just getting the hang of it...although she said, "I like playing with the sword" ; ) interesting haha.

Ok maybe i am reading into this too much but what would u class as a gamer, im not really a big online gamer and also im not too keen on FPS or war games, i do like however mario games, adventure games, rpg's and stuff like that i also like old school stuff like old sonic and zelda, and i cant stand sports games with the exception of virtua tennis on the PSP for some reason, the point im trying to get at is from reading mosts of the posts on this thread most people class gamers as people who go online and play FPS such as halo, which is quite a narrow view i think so i dont know i was just wondering what u would class as a gamer?

My definition of gamer is someone who plays games period.
"There's times to be real, and there's times to be phony. That's right, I said it, phony! You think I'm this nice in real life? Fuck that, son! That's just 'cause I'm on TV. I'd pull my balls out right now... skeet skeet skeet skeet!"

To be honest, I don't wanna be rude here but I think it's a little geeky playing online games, I used to and I was a geek lol, but not anymore, I'm way to old for that stuff and it ain't hot at all.
As Kitty18 said, I dunno if it's a gamer but that's kinda like me - I play games that I find fun, which is what it sounds like you do.Stevo's MySpace Website

I read in a magazine that girls aren't as involved in the video game industry because they aren't marketed to. The writter suggested that girls like games that are pretty, have a deep story and are not competative. Now that sounds like a pretty bad stereotype, but I follow it enitrely. I play easy, pretty RPG's almost exclusively, and when I play with my male friends, their all killing each other at SSB:M as Star Fox and Roy, and meanwhile I've just plunged Zelda off the edge for the 4th consecutive time! I've never managed to get into Halo and I've never played anything online. I do have one female gamer friend, and she's on par with the boys, but she still doesn't play typical 'guy' games. I do sometimes play more guyish games like GTA and I know that other girls do to, but i think the notion of girls being attracted to more feminine games makes sense.

Final Fantasy X-2 was feminine, it had bright colours like pink and green and all the girl cast like, it was still a good game tho, but I think it was probably marketed to the female Final Fantasy fans.
Also in my opinion, Final Fantasy games are probably as much loved by females as they are male.Stevo's MySpace Website

I've met plenty of girl gamers, my only question is how many of them just play video games to try and impress guys? How many of them have only ever played the Sims, and yet call themselves gamers? How many of them can tell you anything about any game except the Sims?
Personally, I'm glad there aren't more girl gamers out there. The majority of them annoy the hell out of me.

Now that's just ignorant. Just because you've met some girl gamers that you don't consider "real gamers", doesn't mean that the enitre female population falls into that category and should just stop trying. I don't play video games to impress anyone, and I don't play games I don't like just because boys do. You can't just steretype all girls as being annoying Sims players, even if some are. That's like me saying all boys only play games where you can shoot a bunch of stuff, play football and crash cars.

Question for you: Where in my entire post did I mention anything about "real gamers" or anything of the sort? Where did I mention that the entire female population falls into the categories mentioned? Did I ever attempt to stereotype all girls?
