Pretty much everything is bad for your hair.
You just have to weigh it out, wavy healthy hair or straight hair with a few split ends.
If you condition it well and use heat protection creams you can't really go to far wrong.

There are ways to lessen the effect, but the high temperature is never necessarily going to be good for your hair.

I agree with everyone, those kinds of hair products just fry your hair and make it look like straw when all is said and done

of course it will damage your hair but you cant do anything if you are worried about that.. i always use hair straightner or curling iron.

I'm confused, do you mean chemical straightening or flat ironing? Well, either way:

Chemical straightening didn't do much in the way of straightening for me. I spent all my money on it, went four days without washing my hair or putting it up, and did everything else the stylist said. Never made my hair any straighter, but it made the ends really nasty. Total waste of time and money.

Flat ironing is much better. It does give you split ends and what not, but nothing you can't just trim off. There are lots of products that make it less damaging.

Depends on the straightners really , if you buy some good ones they'll probebley damage your hair less.
But I think they all damage your hair a little bit.

i permed (chemically straightened) my friend's hair. we put it in her hair can combed through over and over and over again. afterwards it was really striaght. lasted her a good month. you gotta keep it in for at least 20 minutes. the longer you keep it in, the straighter it will be.

no they don't. if you straighten your hair every single day, then yes. but if you do it sparingly, use deep conditioning/hair moisture masques every so often and use heat protection products your hair will be fine. i straightened my hair all the time last year, and it had some split ends and was getting kind of fried, then i stopped for awhile and deep conditioned a lot, got a trim, and now my hair is really healthy and i straighten it every week or so.

I straighten my hair every day and its in perfect condition but I use alot of product to keep my hair the way it is and Ive got a special straigthener with the coatings on it to help protect it as much as it can.

Use a serum, they dont cook to you hair like a hair spray/mousse/gel/creme will, leave sit looking natrual, tames the fly aways, keeps it soft. Its an oil based producy though so you dont need much and you put it on before and after youve done your hair.

I also use a protien/nutrients treatment twice a week and wrpa that in a hot towel so any of the nutrients getting sucked out of my hair is being put straight back in.

I also use a good quality moisture shampoo that helps my hair stay normal.

Also, even if the straightener is wet 2 straight. dont do it wet it will literally cook your hair.

Hope i helped

i've been straightening my hair for five years now.. my straightener gets to 450degrees.. and mines fine.. if you cut it regularly and use like a heat tamer it'll be fine.. atleast mine is, and i have really fine hair..

Yes my hair is getting damaged from it. My hairstylest tried to get me to stop using it though. But nothing else works for me besides the straightener.

It's not as bad if you put a cream on your hair before applying heat to it.

If you do it everyday, then yes it's terrible for your hair. But once in a while isn't bad.
