The Wings are doing terrible. They seem to lack that spark they've had the past few years. It's disappointing, but you can't really expect them to be as good with the loss of Hossa.

Meh, Hossa can produce great numbers during the season and help you make the playoffs. Once youre in the playoffs he becomes invisible just like he was the last 2 cup runs.

I don't remember if I've ranted about the Wings yet here, I've done it everywhere else however.
What's the big deal without Hossa? They were good without him, in fact they won a cup the year before they got him, lost the cup (somewhat due to his abysmal performance in the finals) with him. He was an amazing player, but we don't need him...he was just a luxury.
That being said, Hossa did make it possible for us to be lax on defense (mostly goalie and PK) and still be a top team in the league. This year we have all of the problems of last year (defensively) but without the firepower we had. We won't be tops in our conference and perhaps won't even win the division unless we can solve our problems.
Losing Hossa, Hudler, Sammy and Franzen (albeit injury) and only gaining Bertuzzi (past his prime, injury prone), Williams (I suppose a decent replacement for Sammy) and a couple 4th liners in the process is just too much to handle really. Leino will hopefully step it up, but other than that..our offense won't be as good, and even though on paper our defense is amazing - some of our defenders are aging quickly in my opinion. Our only chance this year is to go on a streak and have Osgood go on a roll (the loss of Conklin has been undercut by the other losses - but I think it was a big one, same with Kopecky who had a bright future) and have a few players have career seasons. If we don't get get players rolling we won't be able to get away with our style of hockey anymore, and we'll have to use the toughness we obtained to our advantage and somewhat abandon our "Europoean" identity if we are to make it far in the post season.

The Red Wings have really picked it up lately. I'm very glad for that. Right now they are in a tie for second in the division with Chicago behind Columbus, but the Blue Jackets have played a game more than Detroit and two more than Chicago

The Coyotes aren't so bad this year.
I find it a little odd that the Coyotes have been bad for so many years, but now, after effectively losing control of the team to the NHL (as I understand it. I could be wrong.), the team has improved a lot in a single year. Now I'm not saying there is a conspiracy, but Bettman is in league with David Stern and we all know how the NBA does things.

I belive that the Coyotes' success has more to do with Bryzgilov's numbers; second best in the league I think.

Okay i'm going to try and get into the Blackhawks this season but listening to local radio station here for last 5 hours in that time i have heard White Sox news (Fine White Sox fan), Bears News (Hey Bears play Sunday thats fine) then Megan fox for an hour an hour before Blackhawks play a game
And they wonder why people in Chicago don't go out and watch this teams much as they do.

3-3 though i'm starting to wish we never see another power play ever again we just can't see to score with an extra man but giving goals away well that's fine we can do that

Hockey in the states is the worst, it always seems like people leave early even if their team is only down one goal and I always see so many empty seats .
