My friends neigbors son has a cell phone too he has to be about 5. I didn't get my first phone till my 16th birthday, which was a cheap prepaid phone, my 12 year old sister got a phone last year and lost it within 3 months of having it and is getting a new one this christmas, i really don't see the point in her having one either

At his age he shouldn't be anywhere without an adult, and really in this day and age they're sure to have a phone so he has absolutely no need for one. I know kids seem to be getting phones at younger and younger ages.

I didn't get my first cell phone until 8th grade and honestly I think that is the perfect time to get a kid one. They really have no need for one before that.

I was only 12/13in grade 8 and I know I didn't associate much with people outside my grade and much less outside my school.

I didn't get my first phone until I was 16 and I'm actually pretty glad.
Even then I managed to run up a 600$ phone bill because I was stupid enough not to check what features came with my plan and it charged me just over 30$ every time I opened the web browser.

I got mine so young because I was basically never home at that age. And not all of my friends went to my school. My parents knew I was responsible enough to have a phone so they got me one.
