I would think you need to do more then a bit of cardio love. I am thinking healthy eating, cardio and a bit of muscle training. Joining a gym would be a smart idea but if you couldn't then maybe invest in dumbells and a ball etc.
Also I would say 30minutes + a day of running since fat burning takes place after 20 minutes of excersize....

i do 30 mins three times a week ..saying that, i am pretty fit and eat very well.. so you would need to break up your runs across three-four days and work from there i think.. running is fantastic though! good luck!

Get a heart rate monitor to ensure you're working out at an optimum intensity.
It'll help you motivate yourself.

Be careful being overweight and running. My mom did the running thing, it was horrible on her joints. But running is amazing. =]

1. Get good running shoes Nike or Asiac are the ebst
2. 45 minutes a day 5 days a week at a moderate jog will help
3. Diet regulation. 2500 calories at most and lots of water along with proportioning all food to what you need
4.a bit of arm work
5.Sunday is day of rest. Relax
oh and btw always stretch BEFORE AND AFTER you run.

Add some weight lifting in addition to your cardio. The burn-feel allows you to burn calories all day because of metabolism and bigger muscles = more calories burnt (something got to do with the fact that they use more oxygen or something).

you are 223 lbs and you think you're going to be able to run for 60 minutes? don't set the bar too high.. you're only setting yourself up for failure :l start at like 20 minutes then work your way up.

that's very true. but an overweight person who does not run at all will not be able to run for 60 minutes at the beginning, no matter how determined they are. unless maybe they alternate between running and walking.

the average person couldn't even run for an hour straight...
i suggest trying something like the Couch to 5k. It's a great way to ease into running!

60 minutes is too much for a beginner!
i have a story for you.
my dumbass decided to run 10 minutes straight after being inactive for a few months. i got tired after 6 minutes, but i told myself 4 more minutes wouldnt hurt. i slowed down, i felt great, and right after i got off the treadmill, it began....
I WAS ON THE FLOOR PUKING MY FUCKING BRAINS OUT!!!! AND I HAD THE WORST CRAMPS OF MY LIFE!
i was in the fetal position on the public bathroom floor for 15 minutes. i cried. i clutched my abdomen, but nothing helped. the next day i ran for 5 minutes, walked for 5, ran 5, and then walked 5. i did that for a week. i went up to 8, then 15, and after a few months i finally did 60. thats just me, though.
moral of the story: take it easy, or youll die.

Good point. I can normally run the one mile run in about 6 minutes and get about 11.5 on the beep test but after like 15 minutes of constant medium intensity running, I start to get really tired to. Maybe I could go to 20 minutes but probably not much more.
