Religion is a private thing. If they want to learn about it, they can freely do so at home.

However, I fail to see what's positive about teaching the masses a 2,000 year old story.

Well, it's not the age that matters, but the scientific validity. And Genesis generally doesn't fall under that category.

school is a place for learning.

creationism has no intellectual basis, evolutionism does.

they are not equal theories.

evolutionism is an educated guess, creationism may as well be a faiy tail.

Wow. So the irrational, yet amazingly successful, attack on religion continues.

I go to a Mormon private school, and I haven't yet because it's my first year, but we are going to be educated on evolution from a pro-evolution point of view. We are taught all angles at my school, which is religion-based.

And yet the government is too afraid to speak of something as ridiculous as creationism appears to be.

Because the government is under no obligation to teach religion, whereas all institutes of learning I would hope are responsible to teach what the scientific community believes to be fact.

attack on religion? please!

it's an attack on science to even suggest that creationism is a valid scientific theory!

no evidence to back the theory up = an invalide theory

Evolution has no fact. It just seems a tiny bit more probable than creationism. Actually, one atheist went so far as to call evolution religion as well.

What? Evolution not only 'has' fact, it IS fact. Evolution happens, and not just in biology.

Tellingly, you were able to cite only one atheist who says that because it's senseless.

My philosophy teacher was talking about the whole creationism thing. He said he had a roomate when he was in grad school at Harvard from Sweeden. I guess they got into a debate over creationism and evolution. My teacher pointed out to him that Sweeden while they may be getting rid of any sort of governmental religeon their deffently is a religeous influence in all their massive social safety nets. So the basis of Sweedish society is directly influenced by christian principals.

Anyway from what i know of creationism it isn't really like "religeous" since they don't say that it was one god or another that created the earth. What they say is for things science can't explain you say it is likely due to a higher power. You never say like oh it was the christian god or anything like that. I don't know how i feel about this being taught in a school but it seems a reasonable as an arguement. I just hate religeon being brought into a school.

It's ridiculous. The athiests are allowed to teach their bullshit but religious people can't teach the truth? no wonder why this world is getting so bad.

dear, evolution is a proven fact.

christianity is a theory formulated from a really old book that no one knows the origens of. it may as well be a fairy tail, as there is not even a shread of proof to support it.
