What in the heck is that?! I mean.. I like it a lot, simply because I don't have a clue what's going on! It doesn't answer questions for me, it brings up more! But the action scenes I like.

Fooly Cooly (FLCL) is a anime about a kid living a boring life...untill a alien in the shape of a woman comes into town, and weird things start to happen. Even though i've only seen about 10 minutes total of the show (because I have to go to bed at 12 AM this week), that's all I actually know about it. lol
The animation is so awesome! It's crisp and alive!

Oh crap, I can't believe someone beat me to making a Fooly Cooly topic! Anyway, FLCL is easily (EASILY DAMN YOU!) the best thing I've seen on TV since Cowboy Bebop, not to say it resembles CB in anyway, it is totally differant but that's it's charm. FLCL is surreal, strange, beautiful, bizzare and anything else I can think of. It plays the field between outrageous and cartoony (which isn't a bad thing at all, I love the show's energy) , and quiet and introspective. Fooly Cooly is a show not easily described or understood, but just forget about that stuff and enjoy the hell out of it. (and I'm sure the robots coming out of his head have some kind of Freudean symbolism, but Im not going to look into that yet...)

actually I've seen it spelled both ways, (strange.) Though I think the real name is Furi Curi (but Fooly Cooly makes more ssnse for the initials FLCL. Oh well, Im new to show anyway, I'll work that out later...)

God...I was going to make a thread on FLCL if someone else didn't. I become so clueless when I watch that show. I am only now getting the gist of it. I think I like it just because it's unique in it's own way.

Im 99% sure its Fooly Cooly.
I cant quite get my brain wrapped around FLCL, my brother bought the first DVD a few weeks ago, I liked it, but I had no idea what was going on, though I tried, I really tried, maybe I should watch it more than once though, anime has a habit of doing this to me, its like the beginning of Excel Saga and the end of Evangelion all over again, just me sitting their obviously entertained, but wondering what the heck just happened. :D
The DVD case and book pretty much says 'Fooly Cooly' wherever mentioned, but I think ive seen it spelt the other way before, but just for the Fooly Cooly point, for example, the intro in the book that comes with the DVD starts with:
1999. Nothing Happened. No one even remembers the prohecy. No rise in Y2K fears.
Greetings to all of you who are relaxing the year 2000 away. This is 'Fooly Cooly'.
Anyways yeah, im tempted to watch the first DVD again now, just to see if I can get it this time.

Now that AS is running FLCL again, Im picking up alot of stuff I missed the first time I saw it. I need to get this on DVD... also, I heard somewhere (on the internet) that there are several more FLCL episodes that were never translated into English. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Ah, I remember where I saw it called Furi Curi, it was at this anime forum I go to, dunno why they didnt put it a Fooly Cooly considering its run by an Australian, but some anime fans can be picky and convince themselves the Japanese version of stuff is always better, like my brother, whenever he watches anime with his friends they watch it in Japanese, I ask them why they dont watch it in English and they say the voices are crap in English, I dont really understand how you rate a voice though, but im not really interested in finding out.
Anyways about the missing episode thing, well there probably are some untranslated episodes, the series doesnt seem to run very long at all from what I understand.

only 6 episodes. Anyway, voice dubbing is getting better, and now there a some english dubs that some consider superior to japanese dubs (Cowboy Bebop for instance...)

There no other FLCL episodes. Six is their limit and they won't go any higher, atleast that's what they said.
I always liked the dubbing in Hellsing, Excel Saga apparently was very difficult to dub considering how much is said in such a short time, but I think they did well.

the voices for cowboy bebop in japanese are better than the english dubs. but the problem is, both are somewhat equally good. I just think the jap ones match the characters more. especially for jet.

Well, some people think the English is better (that's what I meant) but I yeah I'd say they're pretty close to equal. That's why I love my Knocking On Heaven's Door (I REFUSE to call it a crappy name like Cowboy Bebop: The Movie) DVD...

I had heard good things about this show (although one of my friends said the first episodes were better) and someone had reccomended me The Pillows. I really don't like the pillows, and I watched a little bit of FLCL the other night, and I don't like the show either.

ack, you have no taste. What didn't you like then? (P.S. the pillows are great. And I don't even listen to japanese rock..... maybe I should....)

You mean I have different taste. To add to the fact that is anime, the teen angst and everything else that is part of the show is not entertaining. I'd prefer to watch other adult swim shows such as Family Guy, Home Videos, Space Lab, Teen Aqua Hunger Force, and I also liked the older Space Ghost episodes (now, they don't have a point anymore...to an extreme).
PS. The pillows aren't great. Framtid (Japanese hardcore band, I'm not sure if they're still together) beats them anytime.

ok, first off, don't sidd anime. Second off, FLCL is art, man. Even if you can't understand it the first time you see it, how can it not be entertaining? And I think FLCL does teen angst better than any crappy WB after school special or peice of crap ultra-depressed band, FLCL is awsome. I love it. I want more... must have more... (p.s. the pillows are still great, so poop on you. And I never liked hardcore anyway.) And I still like the new Space Ghosts as much as the old...

Spcae Ghost is okay now or maybe not. I don't know.
I wasn't trying to change your taste. I was just giving my opinion which remains as teen angst is boring (there are a few exceptions) and the pillows should be killed by the stalin (if they could come back on some type of time machine).
