Does anyone have the industrial ear piercing or know anyone with it? Im thinking of getting it done ( im 13-and have belly button, tongue and labret) and my mom is sketchy on it..i think its stupid since its only my ear. But anyones..could you tell me a lil bout it?

Well, even an ordinary cartilage piercing causes more problems than most body piercings. And industrials are really awkward to heal. If you have a single connecting bar, it's hard to keep the area really clean because you can't move it around much. There's more weight on the new piercings too, so they're more likely to reject or move around.

It also takes a long time to heal and is prone to infection.. and cartilage infections can cause heavy scar tissue builg-ups and even death of the cartilage. This photo (http://www.molokosynthemesc.com/risks/risks/000003.jpg) shows damage caused by an infected industrial piercing.

So it's not really an easy piercing to get. The place I work at sets an age limit of 16 on this piercing, but it's even higher in some piercing studios.

You're right about the whole cartilage piercings causing problems. I had the cartilage pierced three times but one of the holes got infected so i let it heal. The other two are fine and i still have them but the place where the third whole was has scar tissue and when you feel it it's kind of raised. I don't know why i wrote that cause i'm sure nobody cares.

My mom will not let me get my ears pierced! I'm so upset. its not like my belly button or anything, but still. I wish she would take me seriously. I want this sooooo bad! And she knows that. My friend is getting her ears pierced today and I wish more then anything I could do it with her. Its like my Mom wants to torture me. She wants me to look forward 2 something well how about a car when I'm 16. Or having the top of my ears pierced? Its like she doesn't want me to have my biggest wish in the world. :(

It feels like she doesn't care, I know she does, but why won't she let me do what I have my heart set to? I want this more then the world. Always have. Why does she do this?!?
